Experiencia negativa: december 2025: this especially hurt since it was my college graduation AND birthday the next day, but i unfortunately got the worst haircut of my life and it was crooked... it was so bad; i only requested a normal fade and to leave the top as is, and first course of action was to start shaving the top. i have tried this place a couple of times, each time has been meh or not great, but maybe it was the staff that exact day but i'm not sure. also apparently it includes a drink but i've never gotten it or been offered it so i didn't want to pay any more and just left. i live next to it so maybe i'll try again but i was not happy. my family had to use our machine at home to make the line straight. i wish i had taken a photo but it genuinely was the worst haircut (i'll try to find one). i feel bad because they are nice but that's not what people go for haircuts for, especially if it's an expensive service and because people are becoming increasingly conscious about their hair. if anyone swears by one person being the best at just normal cuts, i may try one last time, but yeah really not a good cut or price.

She gave me comfort with her beautiful personality and her skills and I’m a bran new man. Too bad I’m a let it grow guy rather than a hair cut guy or I’d constantly be getting her to cut and style my hair. I had so much fun during my visit and it’s all a credit to Monica. Definitely request Monica. Absolute legend. I wish I could give her more stars as 5 stars is simply not enough. I would trust her to give me a haircut in a hurricane.

I walked out looking like a guy people remember why they had a crush on. Experiencia negativa: I had one of the most unprofessional and uncomfortable experiences I’ve ever had at a barbershop during my appointment with Vivian Mercado on Sunday, October 19th. I arrived 15 mins early and waited patiently, but she started 7 mins late. She was hostile from the start, when I began explaining my haircut — with both hair length numbers and a photo — she immediately dismissed me, saying I “wasn’t making sense.” I politely asked her to stick to the photo then because that is something we both could see and align on. After talking for barely a minute, she said she needed to start cutting and that we could talk while she worked. Within a few minutes, and without me saying anything, she abruptly said she’d just “follow the numbers” because she “can’t keep asking how long to cut.” I even offered to skip the complimentary hair wash if we are running short on time. When I politely asked to check how my hair was parted and asked for my glasses, she raised her voice, stopped cutting, and snapped, “Either we can cut the hair or talk.” She then taunted me multiple times, asking if I “go into other people’s businesses and tell them how to do their job.” I had to ask her to de-escalate and move on. She became visibly irritated and physically rough, tugging and brushing my hair with force. The haircut was not what I asked for, it was entirely too short, looked nothing like the picture — I requested a taper in the back and got a block, squared cut instead— and she ended by saying that the part could be better done but she has no time anymore and I have to leave. There was no apology, no thank you, just glares. I’ve been a loyal customer for years and have had multiple haircuts with different hairstylists at this place, but this was completely unacceptable. No client should ever be treated this way — rude behavior, raised voices, and physical roughness have no place in a professional setting and certainly not at an establishment that charges for a premium experience. After this experience, it is hard for me to recommend this location to anyone, and I definitely do not recommend this stylist, Vivian Mercado, to anyone considering this business.

Experiencia negativa: Can I give 0 stars? After scheduling an appointment and sharing that my son has autism, a stylist was selected for him because of her "KINDNESS." How pathetic - not only did she refuse to cut my child's hair but sent another stylist to let us down nicely. Oh and she threw it the fact that it's an "upscale salon and they care about everyone's comfortability." Only go here if you're down with discrimination against children with special needs.

Experiencia negativa: I decided to try this barbershop for the first time, but unfortunately, it will also be my last. I was charged $68for a simple haircut and then told it would be an extra $20 because they used a knife on a very small section something the stylist never mentioned beforehand. On top of that, I asked for a zero fade, but instead of using a proper shaver, she just used the machine. I left very disappointed. They might have made an extra $20 today, but they lost a client for good. It’s not about the money it’s about honesty and communication.

Experiencia negativa: First time here, the haircut I received from Monica was very quick (under 20 minutes), poor quality cut. I have fine thin hair which she cut with a straight razor blade only (never seen that before), then proceeded to blowdry it for at least 5 minutes, completely burning out my hair. I was not offered a cocktail and was rushed out. Will not be coming back.

Experiencia negativa: DO NOT GO HERE. I rarely review anything, but this is the worst barber shop I’ve ever been to. That fact that they have this high of a rating is borderline suspicious. I asked for a fade and the guy didn’t give me anything close to the picture I showed him which happens sometimes and isn’t that egregious by itself. But when I got home and looked at it closer I realized that there were several spots behind my ears that he totally forgot to buzz. So I had to use my own clippers and guard to literally finish the parts that he didn’t which puts this place in the top 1% of barbershop negligence. I was able to get a refund after a few days along with an offer to come back for a free haircut which I appreciate. Still overall I would say, go somewhere else. For the price, there are plenty of better places you could go without taking this much of a risk.

Experiencia negativa: Awful Birthday Experience with Monica Booked a 2h15 birthday appointment for my husband with Monica at Scissors & Scotch Austin. It was cut down to barely 1 hour and the result was terrible — uneven, lopsided beard, visible patches, and poor line work. She even cut his skin and got shaving cream in his eye. He had to completely shave again at home. Absolutely unacceptable.

Sophia was my barber and she provided me a good consult the facial and hair wash which I feel the price was well worth it all. There’s a complimentary drink that came along with this too. Experiencia negativa: Poor poor poor haircut today. I asked for very a specific cut and showed multiple pictures of what I wanted done. I wanted to keep my long hair and trim the sides and back ever so slightly, with a tiny taper at the base of my head. That was far from the case, as I left with buzzed sides that I had to rectify myself. In essence, there was a large disconnect between what I wanted and what I got, leaving me to pay for something I had to fix myself. Yet, despite the questionable lack of attention (to the pictures I showed and kind direction I gave), there was hair cutting basics—like buzzing past the crown of the head—that were missed by a wide margin. This is not to mention the horrendous ‘style’ I was given after the cut which indicates to me a clear disconnect between acceptable aesthetic. After 12-hours of coping and some fixes, I’m still angry about the final product. As soon as I left the studio I genuinely consider a full head buzz cut. To the person reading this wondering how this applies to them: I really wish I had said more, been more directive and firm in my guidance, and helped rectify the cut before it got way too out of hand (which was almost immediately). It’s a shame, because I love this place and thought all barbers would be of the same quality, skill, and attention, and that was far from the case.

Experiencia negativa: Pretty unhappy with my experience today. The job got done, so that’s why they get two stars, but it was the minimum and done poorly. To start, I got there a minute early for my appointment and checked in. But had to wait almost 20 minutes past my start time before we got started. I was never once offered a drink, as I always have been at other locations, so they should probably rename this location to just “scissors”. I then explained what I want, and even showed a picture, but mid way through I knew it was not going the way I wanted. They kept my hair much longer than I wanted. The first time I interrupted they simply snapped back and said “I’m not done yet”. Fair. I decide to be patient, but when I brought it up again they assured me that what I asked for was wrong and that what they had done was right. It was too long, but I was too frustrated to ask for a correction. Next, we did the shave which burned like heck (that might be more on me, but I’m not sure what product they were using). It hurt pretty bad. Still feels very sensitive. They also cut me a few times, and given how much I was paying I was very disappointed. To add insult to injury, someone interrupted the shave to quietly inform them that they had to hurry it up, which then led to the cold towel (which at this point I desperately needed) and the shampoo being rushed. At no point during this experience did I feel valued as a customer by anyone there. My girlfriend agrees that the haircut was not done well, and the cuts on my phase are quite visible. I will not be coming back.

Experiencia fantástica: Best haircut I had after a long time. Exactly as I was hoping for. Quang did the best work, definitely master of the art. Had the Old Fashioned drink, it was amazing as well. Best for Scissors and Scotch both. Worth the money. I am going back again next few weeks later. I figured having a membership makes it cheap for me as I would be only coming here next.

From the most talented stylists, to the full bar (that would be happy to go to even if not getting a haircut) with great beers on tap, crafted cocktails, and customer service (shoutout to Yanice!) there is not a mark missed. If you want the best this is where you go. There is no place like it.

I was promised a partial refund on my membership, but after initial communication, they have stopped responding. It’s been weeks with no follow-up from management. This lack of accountability and poor customer service is unacceptable, especially from a business that positions itself as premium. I expected much better, and I would caution others to think twice before signing up for a membership here.

Experiencia fantástica: My stylist listened and I got EXACTLY the hair cut I asked for. Super nice and comfy lounge area. Space is classy without it seeming "too much" or "overbearing". 10/10 would definitely recommend. It is pricey, but I have never been to a quality barber that wasn't lol.

The cut itself was solid as well. I knew we can be picky at times and finding a “black barber” is the go to but they took care of me well and did an excellent job. If you’re weary about not finding a “black barber” this place will take care of you.
