Fantastic experience: Drake did an amazing job cutting my son’s hair. It was my son’s first time getting a haircut from Drake, so he was a little nervous, but Drake made him feel completely comfortable in the chair. The haircut was done quickly, but you could tell Drake really took his time and paid attention to every detail. My son got a shape up and a temp fade, and the results were incredible. He couldn’t stop smiling afterward. He had a great time and a really good day thanks to Drake. I’m so grateful for the positive experience and highly recommend him.

Fantastic experience: I've had long hair for years, and decided it was time to finally get rid of it and clean up for a more neat and professional look for an upcoming anniversary. I was a new customer so I called and got set up with an appointment for Paul and went in pretty nervous for such a big change. However, as soon as I sat down in the chair and showed Paul what I was looking for and informed him I have psoriasis which could be difficult to hide with a shorter style, he got right to work and set my mind at ease. I cannot recommend Paul enough! He takes the time to get to know his clients, double and triple checks to make sure your cut is perfect and the shop as a whole has an excellent vibe. If you like walking out of the barbershop fresh and confident then I highly recommend booking with Paul!

Fantastic experience: Noah did an amazing job with my haircut. I have long hair but refuse to go to a salon anymore because they always cut my hair too short and they don't know how to cut curly hair. Noah DOES know how to cut curly hair and actually listened to what I wanted and it turned out perfectly. My bangs have also never looked better! Going back every 2 weeks just for a bang trim. Shop was super clean too and everyone there was friendly.

Fantastic experience: When I moved to Chattanooga, I was in the business to find a new barber. I was referred to The Max Barbershop by a coworker. Walking in, I was greeted by Drake who said he could help me out. The customer service was excellent, and the conversation throughout was great as well. As someone who comes from a long line of servicemen and veterans, I am always looking to find ways to support those who served our country faithfully. A couple weeks later my brother was visiting for the holidays and needed a haircut. I knew there was nobody better to take care of him, and recommended he go see Drake. Safe to say if you are looking for an excellent cut, good conversations, above-and-beyond service, and honest recommendations I’d definitely check out Drake at The Max Barbershop.

Negative experience: As previous person said TRAUMATIZING. I travel for work and have experienced many barber shops and hands down this one only cares about your money. Barber cut me (infected & bleeding) in 4 different places. Doing my line up,and shaving my beard. Yes I came back and asked for compensation and he gave it to me. Either way I disputed charged with bank and got all my money back too. Wrap it up, Cut me in 4 different places, wasn’t focused on the client honestly. Hands down a bad experience

Fantastic experience: I have the pickiest son ever who almost always leaves haircuts unhappy and upset. A friend of his recommended Max Barbershop and I am so glad we listened. For a barber shop, the prices were very reasonable. I usually take him to a chain haircut place and this was only a little more. I was able to make a same day appointment easily online and even pay for his haircut ahead of time which made everything so simple and stress free. We booked with Amari. The shop was packed but he got my son back on time. From the moment the haircut started, I could tell my son was trying so hard not to smile from pure joy. He was so excited and happy. I can honestly say this is the first haircut I have ever seen him truly enjoy. I had tears in my eyes when we walked to the car just to see him so happy. We drove an hour to get here, which is double the distance from the chain salon we usually go to, and I would do it again tomorrow and every day after. The atmosphere is welcoming, the barbers are talented and kind, and my son left feeling like a million dollars. Max Barbershop and Amari have earned a customer for life and I cannot recommend them enough. Five stars do not even begin to cover it.

Relaxed atmosphere, very friendly and professional staff who knew exactly what they were doing, and it was only $35. I came in at a slow period so they were able to get me finished pretty quickly, so it might take longer at a busier time, but I personally say it'd be worth the wait.

Negative experience: TRAUMATIZING. My 16 year old son's hair was butchered by an employee, Amari W., at the Max. The employee was on his phone the entire time and completely ruined his hair. My son asked for his modern mullet to be trimmed up...the pictures speak for themselves. He came home screaming and crying. It seems silly, but this is devastating for a teenager. It was our first time there. I immediately called the owner, Marc Anthony, and showed him the pictures and complained. He was very professional and apologetic and issued me a refund, as well as offered to fix it for free, which was appreciated. However, the responsibility of this disaster ultimately falls back on him, for hiring an untrained and unprofessional employee. My son was too upset to return. Furthermore, Amari is still available to book for haircuts, posted on their website today, July 21st! DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO THIS BUSINESS!!
