Fantastic experience: After my barber moved out of town I’ve been on the search, glad to say I’ve found my new consistent at Frankie’s!

Fantastic experience: I’ve gone to so many barbers in my 30+ years and they never get it quite right. It’s to the point that I have been nervous about getting another cut. I have thick, but mostly straight hair, which I thought would be easy, but what do I know? I ended up letting it grow for about 3 years just because I was avoiding another bad experience. I came to Frankie armed with only a couple photos of what I wanted and she nailed it. Like I didn’t even have to ask her to adjust anything at the end. The most happy I’ve been about any haircut I’ve ever gotten by far! I don’t think I’ll be waiting quite so long next time. 5/5 would get in the chair again!

Fantastic experience: High Five was a great experience. Easy booking, good availability, very fair prices and easy payment. It’s clear they are elevating the barber experience in Chattanooga by focusing on the things that matter most; convenience and quality. I’ve been going to another great barber in Chattanooga for a couple years but over the past year it’s become very hard to get an appointment and the prices have climbed at a steep rate. That, combined with the expectation for gratuity in this business means it can cost $800 or more annually for a men’s cut. I appreciated the “everything is included in the price” approach that High Five takes, reducing decision fatigue and delivering a more transparent and simple transaction. A sensible approach when the service provider is also setting the price! I’m very happy to have another great barber option to consider when it’s time for a cut!

Fantastic experience: I should’ve posted this review a long time ago. Frankie has been cutting my hair for 7 or 8 years now. She always does the best job and I can’t recommend her enough. I lived out of the area for a few years and I would always make sure to get a haircut when I’d come back to town for a visit whether I needed it or not. Now that she’s working above Velo you can get a top tier cup of coffee and a top tier haircut all in the same place.

Fantastic experience: I loved getting my hair cut at High Five Barber Shop! Found this place from an online search for queer-friendly barbers in the city and that made me feel at ease - the atmosphere and Frankie's friendliness also contributed to a feeling of safety and relaxation. Frankie gave me an awesome fade that looked just like I wanted it to - showed her a couple reference photos at the beginning and talked about how I like my hair to look and she knocked it out of the park. I'll definitely be back!

Fantastic experience: Go get cut by Frankie. Seriously, set up an appointment for a cut and the Hangover session after the cut is a 100% MUST! Traveling for work has ran me through many barbershops across the country and Frankie’s cut and service was by far the best. She is fun, chill and easy to talk to. I wanted the mullet touched and she made it extra trashy! Makes sure she understands how you want your hair cut and to get the look you’re going for! The best part was the hot towel, essential oil facial massage! Holy shnikes! I’m tempted to go back just for another Hangover session! For real, go see Frankie; you can thank me later!

Fantastic experience: I love, love, love this place. It took a bit to find the business, even though I knew that it was upstairs, but once I did, I enjoyed the location. (Tip: once you enter the coffee house, you need to walk past the cashier to the left side of the house, where you will find the steps leading upstairs to High Five.) The owner has their own little area reserved for their business, which has a lovely open-air atmosphere. The haircut was excellent, and the flat-rate pricing was amazing. I have never had a haircut before that didn't involve some sort of check-out process where you had to juggle tipping and payment. But when my cut was done, the owner simply said, "You're all set!" and I was on my way. Perfect. Just a great all around experience, and I would definitely come back again.

Fantastic experience: If I could give six stars I would. Somewhat new to the area so I searched the internet for reliable places to go. I went in for my bi-annual haircut, as I enjoy growing my hair out until it becomes too hot outside. I showed Frankie a picture of how I’d had it cut in the past (close fade on the sides and length remaining on the top and front as I have curly hair). The cut I received was even better than the photo. Not only the attention to detail and the excellent haircut, but the kindness and conversation had while visiting is second to none. The new location near downtown is also cool and shares the building with a coffee shop which is only an added bonus.

Fantastic experience: Frankie and Jonny's is a great place to get a haircut! They do a phenomenal job, pay their employees a living wage and provide benefits, and support their community both inside and outside of the shop with charitable donations and by taking COVID-19 seriously. They require masks in the shop to help stop the spread of the virus and their staff members are all vaccinated. This makes a HUGE difference for folks (like me) with chronic illnesses and compromised immune systems. I also really appreciate their support of the LGBTQ+ community. It can be difficult to find a queer and trans friendly shop and I know I can trust Frankie and Jonny's to always be a safe and welcoming place!

He is easy going and great at reading the room whether you are in the mood to chat or just need some quiet time. I drove 3 hours for him to cut my hair before proposing to my fiancé because I trust him that much.

They even have cocktails and drinks available for their clients. Such a cool place and no one else is touching my hair except Isabella.

Vince fought back the demonic hordes known as my eyebrows, and Leonard... well, Leonard is a dog and just wanted pets. Everyone made me feel welcome and right at home. I hope my hair grows fast, so I may return as soon as possible. Do yourself a favor and pay for a legit haircut.

Positive experience: Cool place, professional barbers and definitely capable of giving you the haircut you want. However, both times I’ve gone in, I used a picture to show them exactly what I wanted. Both times I walked out with my hair not even close to the picture and hardly any hair left on my head. Like I said cool place, solid barbers, I just want a specific style of low fade and everywhere I go I get scalped.

Fantastic experience: I have never been to a barber that was more eager to please their clientele. Courtney gave me my first hair cut in almost a year and a half (covid head) and did an absolutely perfect job. Great conversation, great atmosphere and a soothing drink while I waited. Speaking of which, I went in without an appointment at about 8:30 on a Saturday morning and they were already full. I only waited about five to ten minutes, but I can only imagine how much busier it would have been later in the day. I'd say that making an appointment would be the way to go and the extra $10 appointment fee would be well worth it. Wish I could give six stars! I'll be returning until they decide to retire.

Fantastic experience: This is the barber shop every non-gender conforming, transgender, questioning individuals who want short hair. Frankie was amazing! I was concerned to cut my hair short again even though it fits me and my gender. Frankie gave me an amazing haircut! If you need a gender confirming haircut ask for Frankie! They are all talented and LGBT friendly but Frankie did mine!

Although Jared and Izzy are the ones that I frequent, all of the barbers here are a 100% recommendation. Fantastic experience: Courtney was great, I was available a little bit before my actual appointment and she accommodated me no problem. Light-hearted conversation and easy-going atmosphere. I had a trim and shampoo. The trim has me looking fresh and the shampoo smells great. 10/10 would recommend.

Fantastic experience: Went in for a shave on Wednesday and DID NOT need to shave until Saturday!!! Furthermore, almost feel asleep while I was getting shaved. Unbelievably relaxing.

Fantastic experience: I've been to just about every barber shop in Chattanooga and I can say unequivocally that Frankie and Jonny's is the best spot for a cut. There are other shops in town that offer a beer with their hair cut (although, "the tap is out" is normally what I heard there). It's not the extras that make this place better, its the people and the space. Incredibly friendly, welcoming, and VERY good at what they do and talking through cut styles with customers. You know that awkward, moment when you're sitting in the chair and the barber asks what you want you fumble through trying to explain it? Doesn't happen at Frankie and Jonny's they've got it worked out. Go here. Get a great hair cut. Go back the next time. Simple.

Negative experience: So if you book an appt, which is normal with any barber shop, they attach a 10$ “booking” fee. What a rip off.
