Fantastic experience: Affordable price. Kind staff. Been looking for a new barber, and I found one here.

Fantastic experience: I heard about this business via word of mouth and decided to patron this shop. Mr. Taylor was extremely professional and his attention to detail was impeccable! It has been my experience that some barbers are not experienced with cutting a woman’s head, however Mr. Taylor was skillful and got the job done with precision.

Negative experience: This is by far the WORST hair cut I have ever received in my life!! Save your money and go somewhere else. I have grown my hair for months! Just for this barber to destroy it… I have no words. I am beyond disappointed in how a man can do this to another man. Not even a simple beard trim came out right. I had to shave my whole beard because of how bad he messed it up. I’m not too sure what his name it was probably Quincy. Do NOT go to him! He clearly doesn’t know what he is doing, very unprofessional, very dry service, not welcoming at all. I had to literally stop him to see what was going on and why he was rushing my hair cut, jumping around all over the place, moving the clippers very aggressively. I asked him if he’s in a rush, like I can come back tomorrow or another day because I don’t want to get messed up and he told me that he’s all good he’s in no rush. I asked to cut my top with scissors in the very beginning and towards the very end he got the clippers and just began to cut the top of my hair! Even at the top of my scalp!! Leaving my hair sticking up at the back. Don’t get me started with the sides, just see for yourself! By the way! This was in his words the end result, I didn’t just get up mid cut. He was okay with me leaving like this. I will include a picture of how my hair used to be before this tragedy. Going to take a miracle for someone to fix this mess. I absolutely will never come back to this place. Take this message as your warning before you decide to go here.

Negative experience: Messed my haircut never coming back again. Also $50 for a regular haircut is ridiculous if I would’ve known I would’ve went somewhere else .

Fantastic experience: This was my first time at Taylor’s and honestly, I am never going anywhere else. The staff? Super friendly. The vibe? Chef’s kiss. Quincy was great to talk to and made the whole thing easy. I’ve been on the hunt for a good barber since moving to Richmond back in June, and now I’m just mad I didn’t start here. Would’ve saved myself a lot of bad hair days. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Also, Patti — coolest Director of First Impressions ever. Someone give her a crown.

Fantastic experience: Quincy is an amazing barber and I highly recommend him for anyone interested in receiving a haircut in the Richmond area. He offers great service at a fair price and gets the job done in a timely manner.

Positive experience: I had not had a hair cut in a couple months and was in desperate need of one on a Saturday morning. I could not find an appointment but decided to just try a walk in somewhere. I chose this shop for the ratings and I liked the vibe from the website. Luckily I showed up early and was able to be fit in. I LOVE the atmosphere in this shop, its old school barbershop retro meets modern posh. Even the ceiling had a nice pattern, and the chairs were comfortable. And I am happy with my cut. My only complaint is I very nicely asked the lady at the front desk not to sweep under my feet. She proceeded to do it again, where I again nicely said ma’am my family is very superstitious please dont sweep under my feet. She proceeded to pat me on the shoulder and say she has good spirits on her or something. That doesn’t matter, if your customer is asking you not to do something because of their beliefs, if it’s not unreasonable it should be respected. I really wish I could only take a half star off because I know that’s an unusual circumstance. But just because someone is nice doesn’t mean they should be ignored. Still highly recommend, unless you have a sweeping superstition, lol

Negative experience: Might’ve honestly been one of the worst haircuts I’ve gotten. I got headwash and haircut. The headwash service was bad, and the haircut was horrendous.

Negative experience: Seems like a cool barbershop just avoid booking Curtis no wonder he has open availability on weekends , very unprofessional (literal manchild), terrible cut was NOT worth 50 dollars maybe 25, goofing around instead of doing his job (cutting my hair), avoid booking through the app they automatically take it out an hour before the appointment regardless if you like the cut or not thats probably why he acts that way he dors he gets paid regardless of the terrible cut. His pops must own the shop or something because from the looks of it this isn't the first complaint about him and wont be the last.

Fantastic experience: Called in on a Saturday at 8am for a last minute haircut and they squeezed me in at 9am! Great customer service and very profesional! The cut was fire too!

Negative experience: $50 for probably the worst haircut I’ve ever had. Had an appointment, haircut started late, Curtis clearly rushed through it while screwing around and joking the whole time, had to ask him to fix it and it still looks terrible. Going to have to pay to get this corrected elsewhere. Absolutely will not be coming back here.

Fantastic experience: I'm a Barber/shop owner in with 27 years of experience, and I've worked in some of the top barber establishments in NYC. I was impressed with Marcus, he is not only a skilled master barber, he was very kind and pleasantly conversational. Not only was the cut great, he did all of the little things that make a big difference throughout the service. Details and quality make a BIG difference when you're paying a premium price, and Marcus will leave you feeling good about the money you spend. The shop was great too, classy, yet very down to earth. The whole shop has a great vibe, Richmond, you have a gem, and Taylor's.... do whatever you can to keep Marcus on your team!

Fantastic experience: Staying in downtown Richmond for a work conference and needed a haircut. Found Taylor's online and they were available for a walk in. Only 5 min walk from my hotel, Cornell greeted me outside and said he would take care of me once I checked in. Cornell hooked it up with clean cut and beard trim to get me ready for a work event. Got tons of compliments about the dapper hair. The environment was very welcoming, great vibes from the barbers and very professional service. Wish I lived closer to come back. Thank you

Fantastic experience: All the barbers are on point! Parking is easy on side street or municipal parking lot. Cornell was my barber and he gave me an outstanding cut- as it was my first time there he asked me several questions to make sure he knew what I wanted to a tee

Negative experience: Starting a new job gives a person the opportunity to shine on day 1. How you present yourself sets the stage as you move forward. I decided to forgo the usual haircut and bread trim at my usual local Hair Cuttery and opted to go all out for “ expert grooming at Taylor’s ! Their website states Taylor's Barbershop is a unique, friendly, and upbeat barbershop that gives you a feeling of comfort, fun and relaxation. My experience was anything but, and boy was I disappointed! From the get-go there were hurdles to overcome, the first issue - the barber was late. The appointment was for 9: 00 and he arrived at 9:10 He asked me what I was looking for I explained I was starting a new job Monday and wanted and I explained a hair and bread trim, all over nice shaping. I thought he understood because he said something about feathering. Before I could stop him, he pulled out the clippers and began taking my hair down to a prison cut. I tried to keep my composure hoping the bread trim would not be as nasty, but this dude either has cognitive issues or he was stoned! (hard to tell because his hands were wreaked of cigarette smoke). When he trimmed my bread, he dry shaved my face I didn’t notice until I got home I had a burn mark. I complained to the girl at the front desk, and she took my number, told me the owner would be in an hour and she’d have her call me – I never heard from the owner! My experience met none of the adjectives Taylor’s uses to describe their shop – I did not feel comfortable – I was at the mercy of a man with clippers in his hand creating havoc with my hair. The experience was not fun – I can find a lot of things to do with the 75$ they charged me that are a lot more fun, than what I experienced at Taylor’s. I left their establishment so far from relaxed. Take this warning – save your money!

Fantastic experience: Walked in and was immediately seen. Cornell cut my hair and did a great job. Would highly recommend anyone looking for a good cut to check this place out.

Fantastic experience: Willfully drove over an hour to get cleaned up by Taylor and it was worth it. Friendly service from everyone there and a clean shop makes it a welcoming environment. My argument about some of the people upset about the cost is...if you're gonna spend money (or set aside a budget for shoes, cologne, clothes or whatever) but you're upset about paying for a cut, you need to ask yourself "what makes me look good when I don't have these shoes on or specific clothes on or cologne on?"

Dwayne is a master at his craft, his attention to detail and skill are second to none. I always feel the welcoming atmosphere, and you can tell he truly cares about his clients. Negative experience: At first it looked good, but when I started looking more thoroughly I saw how UNEVEN my haircut was. Beyond upset. I asked for my beard to be blended in and it wasn’t. One side of of my head is higher on the fade than the other side. Ridiculous.

Fantastic experience: Closed when advertised as being open........ response to owners reply........it was three months ago and it was an hour and a half before advertised closing time. ...... additional edit....... made an appointment. Got in.. did an amazing job with my son.

Fantastic experience: AR is the best barber in city. He does great work and never disappoints! Definitely go to this barbershop.

Negative experience: I’ve been to this location three times now. The first two times were phenomenal with Santos. However, upon my third visit I went in for an Edge Up, ‘in between haircuts’ option they advertise. The next day I got a notification from my credit card they had returned my payment and charged me for a full haircut and some extra for tip without consulting me or anything. This is a completely unprofessional barbershop and a shady one who charges customers more once they leave. This barbershop has lost my business indefinitely and I hope they don’t treat their other clientele as they did myself.

Negative experience: I asked the barber to keep my beard high, and he cuts it low anyways. I don’t understand why barbers don’t listen to instructions, just because they want to “school” for cutting hair and thinks they “knows best” for cutting a face that’s NOT EVEN THEIRS.

Fantastic experience: Santos has been my barber for going on a year now. His skill and style is excellent, and I really enjoy the banter. Taylor's has been an excellent space, even after the move. I enjoy coming into town and grabbing some coffee while getting my haircut here.

Negative experience: Charging before the hair cut and then adding on extras afterwards (without telling me) is actual theft. I did not ask for a razor to be used, but it was and then I was charged for it. I'll never be back. Y'all have messed up business practices

Fantastic experience: My first time and I’m hooked! Santos is a great barber! Had a nice conversation while getting the cut , in an out with a very sharp looking haircut. Clean place with a good vibe. I highly recommend Taylor’s, and Santos.

Negative experience: Barber dropped trimmer twice and continued to use it with out wiping it off or pretending to care about hygiene. Got a fade and guy gave super high ear arch on one side, bad trim on top, and no comparison to the pictures I showed. Beginner level mistakes for paying $45 min for a cut + tip. After going 4 times, I’m done pretending I’ll get lucky with the next cut.

Negative experience: Not worth the price. Haircut was okay. Just do your own beard line up so it will be straight and symmetrical. Also pay attention to what service you choose and what add ons they will slip on at the end without telling you. $73 for a fade around the neck and scissor on side with nothing on top because it didn't need it. And then a $5 unannounced add-on for a crooked beard line up. I wouldn't but if you do, call and schedule because online makes you tip atleast $1 prematurely and is a $3 fee. Overall with gratuity I was charged $96 for a service that could have been received for $40 elsewhere in America. Side not, online will charge your card three times when Taylors makes adjustments so pay attention.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming to Taylor’s for the last year or so and have always had excellent service. AR hands down is the best barber and gets my lineup crisp every time! The customer service, vibe, and all around service is impeccable!

Fantastic experience: Today is my birthday, and I went in to get all of my hair cut off, I'm a woman. All the staff was so kind and supportive of my decision and made me feel really comfortable. I will definitely be going back and do reccomend them as a great place for a cut. Thanks guys

Fantastic experience: Found this babershop after my barber of 4 years moved away. I instantly linked up with Aurelius R. and he filled that void and I can even say he has given me my best cuts ever...100%. AR and the staff are pleasant and a lot of fun to chat with. Great atmosphere. Easy to book and fair prices. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: The barber Aurelius kept using the “r” word when discussing something that wasn’t the “normal”. Haircut is completely uneven on both sides and he was more focused on what the receptionist was wearing on a date vs paying attention to the cut. They charged my card for the service prior to my appt, and afterwards (without informing me) they charged an additional 5$ for razor use. I wouldn’t mind had they told me prior to doing it. Would not recommend if you are looking for a luxury haircut. I saw someone said this gave “great clips” experience and they were right. High point barbershop is better imo.

Fantastic experience: Great place—reasonable prices, fast, nice. I walked in with my fiancé who got a nice mid fade from Santos. I asked about a women’s neck trim (growing out a bob from a pixie) and Aurelius helped me out—I don’t even think he was on the schedule as he came in through the front door. It’s exactly what I wanted and I appreciate the excellent service we received!

Fantastic experience: A.R. will do the cleanest cuts for the best price. I've been a consistent client of his for a couple months and he hasn't let me down a single time. He got you with the trims, fades, twists, shape-ups, whatever. A.R. and Santos get yall right.

Fantastic experience: Whether you're a local or visiting the Richmond, Va downtown I can't recommend this place enough. I sat in A.R.'s chair - he's a total pro and great to chop it up with. I randomly popped in between business meetings and wanted to get cleaned up on the back & sides and shorten the top. He listened and then went to work and no exageration, one of the best haircuts I've had. His clipper & scissor work is clutch. I'll be making an appointment next time in town without a doubt.

Fantastic experience: This place definitely gets a 5STAR rating from me!! Aurelius was my barber. I had locs and combed them out and then just decided to cut my hair. This was my first time ever getting a hair cut so i was a bit anxious but Aurelius got me right with the wash, cut, and line up!! I definitely recommend! 10 out of 10 !!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming to A.R. for haircuts for the past 3 years. This establishment is very clean and the haircuts never disappoint. I never get razor bumps when I’m getting my beard cut and I always get compliments.

Negative experience: My son is fresh to the area and a college kid to boot. He scheduled an appoint for a haircut and overslept. He wanted a cut for a job interview and yes oversleeping was his fault. However, he was charged a no show fee for the whole cut. Thirty bucks! He's a college kid for goodness sakes. As a freshman he doesn't have a car and this shop was in walking distance. In the future please don't do college kids like this. Charge a fee absolutely but give a bit of grace. As a mom I would sincerely appreciate that!

Negative experience: Asked for a drop fade and an inch off the top.. looks like I got a medium to high normal fade and 2.5 inches off my hair.. length was down to my mouth now it’s at my eyebrow level. Won’t be coming back. On top of a part of the fade that’s not even blended in.. won’t be coming back. Not even close to what I wanted. Seems like she just did whatever she wanted with my hair for her liking

Negative experience: Finding a new barber after coming into a new city is already very nerve racking. I did so much research to try and find my next barbershop home and I chose Taylor’s because of their great reviews. I made an appointment with Thomas and initially i was very excited as the atmosphere seemed just right. I explained to Thomas very well exactly what i wanted (A mid skin fade with an inch off the top of my hair). In the end I was very disappointed as I was left with no fade at all, almost bald on all sides of my head. He cut so high up on the crown of my head. No barber has ever cut that high before. I would’ve corrected him but i was faced away from the mirror the entire time and i didn’t see my hair until the very end. It’s heart breaking as I really was excited for this new experience and expected to be returning after a good experience.

Fantastic experience: If you want a cut done right with attention to details, time and care put in with passion, you have to come through to Taylors. I had a great service done by one of their artists “Mikhail Norrell” and I guarantee this mans will put the love he has for cutting hair into whatever style you appeal for.

Negative experience: Scheduled an appointment, I was there 10 mins before my appointment. Ended up waiting 40 mins and the barber I guess chose to not show up to work because they had to cancel my appointment and have another barber preform the service. At that point I got my refund and went somewhere else. Never will I recommend or go to that establishment again.

Negative experience: The people in the shop are super nice. I say that to say this, not all of their barbers know how to cut hair. I left the shop with uneven hair, even some hairs sticking out, the person who gave my haircut (i choose not to say name for privacy and defamation reasons) acted like they knew what they were doing and the whole haircut not once turned me around to the mirror until the very end when it was time to go. I choose this rating based on services that they are providing, i asked for a haircut, i didn’t ask for them to be nice to me necessarily but it is a plus, it can’t carry the whole rating that would make no sense.

Fantastic experience: Can't believe it took me so long to check out Taylor's. This was hands down my best haircut ever. Making my appointment online was super easy (you get to choose your barber if you'd like) and you can even pay & tip beforehand. That option was great for me because I never carry cash. Overall I really loved my experience here and I will be going back regularly.

Negative experience: I went here for roughly a year and Brandi always did a great job and was a pleasure to talk to. However, there were multiple occasions where I had to wait 40-50 minutes after my appointment time to be seen (and I arrived early, I was not late). I'm sad to see their studio was damaged last week and they can't operate. However, I'm very frustrated that in the 3 days since that happened they could not even bother to send an appointment cancellation notice. I wasted my time driving to an abandoned business. I should not have to check your Insta beforehand to verify that you're still open. In fact they require you to enter your credit card in advance so that they can charge you if you no-show without a 24 hour cancellation, which is one-sided and hyprocritical. I appreciate Brandi, but the repeated poor customer service means I won't be back.

Fantastic experience: Brandi did a phenomenal big chop on me. I'm already planning to go back in a few weeks. She was great and the other barbers were hyping me up before my cut. Will definitely be going back.

Fantastic experience: My first haircut in over a year after quarantining - my appointment was with the owner, Dawayne, who was really nice to talk to, and who cut my hair exactly how I wanted. The salon itself was clean and the staff and other barbers were really friendly. Overall a great experience, I will definitely be going back and would recommend getting your hair cut here.

Fantastic experience: This morning was my first time going to Taylor’s. I had booked an appointment with Sergio based on other reviews and was very pleased! I asked for a high skin fade while leaving the top alone to grow out some and he did exactly what I asked along with constantly checking up to make sure everything was cool. He payed close attention the whole time to make sure the hair was blended and the skin was super tight. We also talked about football which was very enjoyable. The cashier was also very pleasant and welcoming. Based off my experience, I will be back in another two weeks to see Sergio. He’s extremely skilled, down to earth, and has some funny stories to tell. Thanks again!

Negative experience: I have never been charged $45 for a haircut and beard line up. Beard didn’t even get shaved. She was nice and friendly, but definitely not worth the $45 especially when there’s a place .1 miles away that will do the same work for $25. Will not be back and do not recommend

Their online booking system was easy and they actually stick to a schedule. I worked with Sergio and he was great to talk to. He asked me how I wanted my fade and cut it precisely how I wanted him to. I have been searching for a barber for over a year now in Richmond wish I would have started here. Fantastic experience: I come here about once a month to get my haircut from Brandi. She is extremely sweet, caring, and knows exactly what she is doing. I usually get a fade that she does an incredible job on, and with the length of my hair on top, I usually let her do what is best!! I always trust her judgement with my styles. I love that she remembers what events I go to and asks about them and everything!! Overall, everyone is professional and I love the vibes there, I highly recommend it!

Fantastic experience: After EXTENSIVELY researching barbershops in my area (CVille) and not having any luck I came across Taylor's in RVA. I am EXTREMELY picky with who touches my hair but I can honestly say Sergio is A1. Definitely worth the drive from Charlottesville to get a cut!

Negative experience: First time I went to this place since moving here trying to find a new barbershop. I called and made an appointment, and didn't get in the chair until 15 minutes after my time. Hair Dresser that cut my hair did not know what they were doing. I was in the chair for an hour and half. Way too long for a haircut! At some point, the hair dresser attempted to touch my mask without asking me to cut my hair. Not super COVID-19 friendly. It was obvious that they were new which was not the issue, but when I asked if everything was ok with my hair they kept reassuring me things were fine. Eventually, had to get the supervisor to actually finish the haircut which took another 20 minutes, and they did not wear a mask while they were cutting it. I think they need to reevaluate a few things, and make sure they're training and COVID restrictions in check.

Fantastic experience: I've been rocking with Brandi since I moved back to VA in 2016. I have followed her around to a few places she has worked. It is always so nice to see her and have her cut my hair. My first visit to Taylor's Barber Shop left me feeling nothing but good vibes. She is an excellent stylist/barber. I seriously would not let anyone else cut my hair...partly because she would know. But Iove the idea of actually making an appointment and being seen on time. I got a reminder call the day before and and an email confirmation of my appt. Everyone was very professional. There wasn't the barbershop talk that I was worried about. Also, everyone is wearing masks. I have no complaints and duh, I'm obviously going back.

Negative experience: I am a little late in writing this but, Jessica did a great job. Will definitely have her cut my hair again. The next time I went, quite a few months later she was 30 minutes late & did a rush sloppy job. Never again.

Fantastic experience: Always a pleasure coming to Taylor's! Great people, great music relaxing and fun environment. Not to mention skilled barbers! When in Richmond, Taylor's is my go-to.

Fantastic experience: Taylor’s Barber Shop is one of the best shops that I’ve patronized since arriving to Virginia. Keep in mind, I drive 35 minutes both ways and pass dozens of shops to not only get my haircut, but the overall price is about $10 more than some of the surrounding shops. With that added cost you will he seen on time with your barber, you will receive professional service, and you will be totally satisfied with your cut. Brandi is a dope artist and had me looking super clean and professional. Since each service is done by appointment, the shop isn’t crowed and each chair is socially distant with at least 6’ of separation. Each barber wears masks and I personally seen them sanitize their workstation before and between haircuts. Basically, stop being cheap and visit Taylor’s shop you will get what you pay for!

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit to Taylor's and I had an excellent experience. My appointment was with Brandi, who was friendly and quickly made me feel very comfortable. I have plenty of hair on the sides but very little on top so I consider myself to be a challenging customer, but Brandi got a clear sense of what I wanted and did a great job. She did not use clippers so it was entirely a scissors cut, which I believe requires the most skill. The cut passed its major test when I arrived home and my wife said she really liked it. I definitely plan on returning to Taylors and Brandi. I just had my 2nd visit at Taylor's with Brandi, and much as the 1st time, I am very pleased. Brandi continues to be very friendly, easy to talk to, but more importantly, very skilled at what she does. I and my family are very happy with this haircut as we were with the 1st one.

Fantastic experience: I'm new to the area and was in desperate need of a haircut. I booked online with Thomas. He actually called me about 20 mins before my appointment and said he was ahead of schedule and if I would like to come in early it would be no problem. That was awesome because I was a little early myself anyways. Walked right in and greeted me immediately. Very clean and welcoming environment. Thomas made me feel like I have been going to him for years. I got a great haircut and had a good conversation as well. I will be back 100%.

Fantastic experience: This was my second time at Taylor's and I will now only be coming here to get a hair cut. It is a great location downtown and the owner is a Richmond native. Their stylist are diverse and provide a welcoming and inviting enviornment. I was most pleased with the feedback the barber was willing to provide. I personally go into the chair without a clear idea of what I want to do with my hair and like to give the barber room to be an artist and give my his or her input on what will look best.

Fantastic experience: Taylor's has what other barbershops don't: skill and real humanity. Other shops sometimes invest in their remodel but forget to invest in their people. It's nice to go in and see the staff really caring for each other and for their customers. Always a positive environment. And I've never had a bad haircut from them. A+.

Fantastic experience: Taylor’s barbershop is the best barbershop in Richmond. I have been there a few times and always schedule an appointment with whoever is available because they are all so great and skilled at their work.
