Fantastic experience: Westcott Barber was a good experience. I scheduled my appointment the day prior and was able to get the time I wanted. My barber was a good conversationalist and his barbering skills were leveled up. He did a great job and I had a great experience. The atmosphere is busy since it's near Syracuse University and Upstate Medical University but it wasn't too bad. I would return. Also, be aware that the prices online reflect using a credit/debit card for payment. If you plan to pay cash you'll save $3 (e.g., a $30 haircut is only $27 when paying with cash).

Fantastic experience: Visiting from out of town and stopped in for a fresh cut before a wedding this weekend. Myke McIntyre absolutely knocked my skin fade and beard trim outta the park. Definitely would recommend this place and definitely hope to get another cut here sometime in the future

Positive experience: Been going here for a while. Great, accomodating barbers. If you want to talk through your cut, they've got talkers. You don't, they've got quiet barbers. Feel free to test them all out and you can make appointments with any one you choose. Some people may find them to be on the pricey side compared to, say, Supercuts, but to me, it's worth it. I like their background music choices, too, but may not be for everyone (e.g., Primus :D)

Negative experience: Booked online days in advance for my kid. 45 mins after the appointment time i go to pick him up and mark b had not even taken him yet. What a joke of service.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going here since they opened and absolutely love this place. James is an All-star at cutting hair and I’ve seen everyone do a great job on cuts. The barbers have great banter and are hilarious, there is free beer sometimes, I never leave with a bad hair cut and I’m a black guy lol. I always feel like I’m family there and I know I can trust them before a wedding, a big date, or a job interview. Highly suggested. Serena is fantastic as well!!!

Positive experience: Went there one time about five or six years ago. Made an appt, and arrived exactly at the appt time, just as someone was sitting down in the chair at the start of a haircut. Thirty minutes later (and thirty minutes late for my appt), I sat down for my haircut. I totally understand that shops can get backed up; however, it seemed pretty clear to me that he was fitting in somebody he knew (perhaps under the assumption that a brand new customer who he didn't know might not show for his appt?--dunno). Ended up getting a solid haircut, had good conversation with the barber (and learned about Syracuse's interesting history of its Straight Edge Punk scence), and dropped a big tip (as always). But I didn't appreciate getting bumped and decided not to return. UPDATE (after owner's response): I most certainly was not ten minutes late; as indicated in the original post, I was exactly on time (so much for not assuming the worst, huh?) Even if the barber was running (exactly 30 mins?) late, he could have done a better job of explaining the situation when I arrived. Regarding your incredulity (suspicion?) about why it took me years to comment, I saw a reference to your shop on my social media feed and thought I'd share my experience--which was honest, fairminded, and accurate. Take the loss, friend, and recognize that you guys weren't at your best that day. End of story.

I’ve had a haircut by Sam and James and can confidently say they’ve given me some of the cleanest fades I’ve ever gotten. I highly recommend this barber shop and these two barbers.

Negative experience: I had an appointment scheduled I arrived ten minutes early, after waiting 45 minutes I got up and left. Later, in a pathetic attempt to make it right, I got a text asking me if I wanted to reschedule, I said do you have anything today, they said no, you can come in tomorrow or Saturday. They didn’t offer me one penny off. I hate barbers that only do appointments but if that’s how they roll theres no excuse for not being ready. Im never going there again!

Fantastic experience: Highly recommended-- this is a shop with awesome vibes! Also I can confirm that all genders are welcome here. As a female-bodied person who was getting a buzz cut for the first time, I was initially nervous that I would feel judged or be turned away because of my gender. But instead, the staff made me feel welcomed, and I had one of the best haircut experiences I have ever had. I went to Doug (I believe he is the owner) who put me at ease immediately. He exuded confidence and skill, made me laugh, actually listened to exactly what I wanted done with my hair, and gave me one of the best haircuts I have ever had! I'm really excited to hear they might be opening up a unisex location elsewhere in town, because I want long-haired salon-focused folks to give them business too! Great place with great people.

Negative experience: I went to this place for a haircut for the first time. The haircut looks so unpleasant and unprofessional. This kind of haircut i usually do it by my self. Why do i need to waste my $30 for such a haircut. This is really not the Barbers fault, I really appreciate his efforts and hardwrok. Being a new barber is not easy but he did his best. Infact when i called this Barber shop back. He did address me with an apology and made an appointment to fix the necessary fades.. This is the Management every barber shops are doing. Whenever they see a new guy for haircut they throw him to an untrained barber. Let me tell you this is so wrong and definitely takes the confidence of the customer to come back to get a haircut next time. Rather you guy should give the best experience for the new customers by appointing the best barber so that they can come next time. Initially I gave 1 star rating but after I called in and that barber made and appointment to fix the necessary fades. I really appreciate his efforts and hardwrok, so I changed my rating from 1 to 2 star. That 2 star definitely goes for the barber though he is new. Not the Management. Thank you

Fantastic experience: Good place to get a cut, cool staff. At this point I have gotten my hair cut by almost all the barbers that work there regularly and they all have done a good job so you really can't go wrong.

Fantastic experience: It is a very nice barber shop. The staff there is very friendly and helpful. And the Service is excellent. No doubt why it is always crowded. It is a bit on the expensive side as compared to other barbers in the area but it is totally worth it.

Negative experience: One of the worst haircuts I’ve ever had… have to wear a hat now for the next two weeks because the barber I had today ruined my hair. Asked for 1/2 off of the top and takes off a good 2. Messed up my fade too. Maybe it was an off day I don’t know but I won’t be coming back here again.

Doug gave me the best haircut that I have ever had. He took the extra time to ensure I was happy with my haircut.
