Fantastic experience: I've been going here for a haircut, shave, and beard trim for over 6 months and I'll continue to be back for anything I need done. Tommy's an awesome, easy-going guy, and we always have a good chat and a laugh. He's passionate about what he does, likes to make sure you're comfortable, and has a very tidy one-chair barber setup, so it feels relaxed, private, and personal. I know I can count on him to make me look good for a special occasion and I enjoy the experience. If you're looking for a barber you can stick with, this is the place.

Fantastic experience: Down here on holiday and decided to try a new barber and what an great choice i made. Tommy is top notch, best Barber I have ever come across. Clean and tidy workshop, great environment to be in, brilliant conversations, felt very welcomed and I could just relax. I got a hair cut fade and beard trim fade and I couldn't be more happier with the results, left a tip because this chap deserves it. Thanks Tommy I will see you again on my next trip!

Fantastic experience: Exceptional experience bringing my (very scared) 3 year old son. We booked the last slot which was a big plus - Tommy took his time, got down to my son’s level and greeted him, and interacted with him to build trust. In the end I had to pin my son down but Tommy wasn’t distracted by the hysterics and did a thorough job. I left feeling like our visit was genuinely appreciated. Soon enough my son will love getting his hair cut, but it’ll be a journey - one I look forward to! Thanks Tommy, you’re a diamond geezer!

Fantastic experience: My son had his first professional haircut today at The Chairman Barbershop in Raumati South. It went perfectly. Tommy has a single chair and leaves a few minutes before and after each booking so you're the only one there and it's not pressured. Music wasn't loud, vibe was very chill. He'd supplied flyers to a disability expo last year so we were confident he'd be a good person to try as a barber and he did a great job. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I took my 19 month old boy to see Tommy for his first haircut. He was amazing! And gave such a gorgeous wee cut! He was very patient and so good with my boy. He has young kids himself, so he gets it! He took the time to talk about it what I was after and checked in as we went along. Will definitely be bringing him back for further haircuts with Tommy. Fantastic experience: The night before a really important event (where I thought I might end up on TV), I realised I desperately needed a haircut. I hadn’t had one in at least four months, and things were getting pretty tragic. I figured there was no way I’d find someone with space at such short notice - but on a whim, I messaged Tommy around 8pm. I didn’t say how important the event was, I just apologised and asked if there was any chance he could fit me in the next day. He replied almost straight away and said yes. Not to set a precedent - he normally prefers at least five days’ notice, which is totally fair - but I really appreciated that he went out of his way to help. That kind of flexibility and genuine care is rare. When I showed up, I wasn’t sure what to expect. From the outside it’s a garage, but the moment you step inside, it’s like you’ve walked into a private, boutique barbershop. Clean, modern, and minimalist, with one big leather chair and a huge mirror - it felt like the space had been designed entirely for you. Everything was spotless and professional, and Tommy had all his qualifications proudly on display. I always get a bit anxious going to a new barber, but Tommy made me feel completely at ease. He took the time to talk through what I was after - even though I didn’t really know myself - and was meticulous in working with the shape I had left, thanks to previous uneven cuts. The result was great, and I’m actually looking forward to going back again once it’s grown out a bit and we can really lock in the style. He mentioned there are about 30 to 35 barbers and hairdressers in Kāpiti, which makes it all the more impressive that he’s already getting noticed after only starting his business late last year. That alone speaks volumes about the quality of his work and the experience he offers. Whether you’re someone who gets a bit nervous, needs a bit more time, or just wants to be listened to properly - go to The Chairman’s Barber Shop. Tommy doesn’t rush, doesn’t overcharge, and treats every client with real care. I’d absolutely recommend him.
