Fantastic experience: I’ve been to Blak Bear a fair few times now. I live in Leeds but I drive up in order to get a trim there. The atmosphere in the barbers is absolutely brilliant and the guys & girls in there are top. I’d honestly recommend Blak Bear to anyone looking for a decent trim. You really do get what you pay for.

Talked to me and made me feel welcome aswell which was very nice . All the staff seem lovely and so welcoming as soon as you step through the door. 10/10 for the haircut, the atmosphere and the staff!!!

As a regular he has built a reliable and very forward going relationship ,he will always go out of his way to engage in conversation and offer any drink supplements which may be to offer. My experience with Ollie G has been nothing but the best, he has exceeded every past barber experience I have had in the past and continues to deliver the same exceptional experience with every cut, on top of this he is flexible with changing appointments aslong as you give him time in advance. The barbershop as a whole is very welcoming and friendly and if Ollie G wasn’t present I would be more than happy to sit in someone else’s seat as they all are a great set of people and seem to deliver the same experiences and quality of a haircut. - Kyle Noddings

Negative experience: Booked appointment day before and was 5 minutes from the place where got txt message saying appointment was confirmed then another saying it was moved from 9 to 9:30 Very disappointing, cance in shop and then went down street to another barber and got seen straight away and for much better price . Won't be back to Blak Bear

Fantastic experience: I came across Blak Bear as a walk in customer by pure chance as I am not from York. I was instantly impressed with the atmosphere and shops overall decor as I walked past the shop window. In the end I ended up blowing another barbers off that I had seen originally and liked the look of on social media. Upon entrance of Blak Bear, I was greeted friendly by a member of staff who told me they did walk ins and answered all my questions that I had. Within 5 minutes I was met with Ollie G who was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He offered me a beer and away he went. Now my hair is dead straight and a lot of barbers can sometimes struggle doing a skin fade. For his first attempt he did a cracking job, and I am very happy with the outcome. He showed experience and knowledge about straight hair and understood what I needed, along with being sociable and chill. The atmosphere of the place was teaming with a buzz and it reminded me of my own barbers in Hull. Edgy, professional and overall social. Could not recommend the place enough it was a great first impression and I will be back again. All I will say is it seems pricey for what it is, but with it being York centre I would expect it was the norm in comparison to Hull prices. Thanks again Ollie , have a great weekend with the family.

Fantastic experience: Blak Bear is by far the best, most welcoming and most friendly barber I have been to in York. I have been going to Andrew for nearly a year now and his cuts are some of the best I have ever had, let alone in York. All the staff are incredibly friendly and polite and their booking system via the app is flawless. Highly recommended.
