As an addendum to the above, writing this approximately two months later after my second visit. Whilst the barbering is great, after reflection, I found that the atmosphere, at the shop, for me, on my second visit, was far too noisy, therefore, I've decided not to return.

I’m a wheelchair user and the staff all took it in their stride quietly making sure I could access the chair, not making any fuss at all. I really love the decor and the feel of the place. Shane- the owner- is possibly one of the nicest guys you'll meet and boy does he know his stuff! His recommendation of products to use to him showing genuine interest in you as his customer doesn't go unnoticed. I could go on and on. It's safe to say I truly believe this to be the best barber shop you'll ever go to, the guys and gals in there really do know their stuff and make a fantastic job of any hair cut they do. Fantastic experience: I visited today for the first time with my 10 year old son who has had long hair for several years. We booked in with Shaun, who honestly couldn't have been any nicer and more importantly did a great job of cutting my son's hair. My son had been very nervous about getting the chop but he has been buzzing about it ever since and hasn't stopped talking about it! he obviously feels really cool with his new 'burst fade' and he look cool too! 10/10- couldn't ask for more! Fantastic experience: Particular shout out to Oleksii who is not only a fantastic barber but was very accommodating to our 2 year old who was very unsettled in the hairdressers. Oleksii was sensitive to the situation, and even achieved a decent cut on a hysterical toddler! He always does a great job of my husbands hair too.

Fantastic experience: We have been taking our son to the dandy gent since his first ever haircut at the start of the year. All I have to say is that if you have children then Ash is the most amazing, welcoming and talented barber for little ones. He is engaging with them, has plenty of patience and talks to your child through the whole process, he will even put on videos if needed for your little one to watch, he will let them play with the hand brush and keeps them entertained whilst doing an amazing haircut. He makes the whole process of getting your child's hair cut a breeze, he is an amazing asset to the dandy gent.

Negative experience: I Booked a session after a recommendation from a friend of Nuns street branch but as they didn't have appointments available, iron gate had to be the choice. Shaun was my barber and i explained him how i wanted my long hair to be trimmed. However to my surprise he made them quite short in the sides and i was quite unsatisfied by the haircut. I had beard trim also booked but didn't risk to get the same thing done to my beard. I must say that if you're willing to pay for disappointment you can opt them cuz this haircut was for an event and it's now ruined. I had my hair grow since couple of months so I could get the perfect trim but it was all ruined.

Fantastic experience: Very pleased with how Shaun delivered with what we agreed would be a nice style of beard for my face shape. Good casual chat while in the chair. Irongate shop is cosy, pleasant and an escape for the outside world.

Fantastic experience: I arrived early and was shown to my chair on time. Shaun is an easy guy to get on with whilst he cuts your hair (I had a beard trim as well). First time with the Dandy as my regular Barber has recently moved. It has a good atmosphere with lots of Barbering paraphernalia, which is quite interesting to browse whilst waiting for your appointment..

Fantastic experience: One of the only barbers I've been to where expectations match results. Been here 3 times now and I was well happy with the result. Easy to book an appointment on the nearcut app. They are on the slightly more expensive end of the scale but you get what you pay for. My only gripe is having to find and pay for parking but that's not their fault.

Gave plenty of advice for looking after my hair after and best ways to style it etc. Brilliant atmosphere. I would recommend! As someone who suffers with PTSD and social anxiety, The Dandy Gent and all the people that work there make you feel welcomed and at ease. My anxiety soon faded away and was replaced by laughs and relaxation. Conversation was very easy, which is saying a lot for me. Fantastic experience: I am 26 and I have NEVER had a haircut ive like until today at this barbers. I've always had trouble explaining how i want my hair and normally i walk out with the same haircut each time which ive always hated and immediately covered up with a hat. The reviews do not lie, this place is brilliant, the man sat me down and took the time to listen and talk me through the cut i was asking for and delivered perfectly! I've also never been able to talk to a barber so well while in the chair due to anxiety but the man kept the conversation flowing ~ excellent customer service. Im so happy with the result, feel i wont need to avoid getting my hair cut anymore for months on end and I'll be coming back again. 10/10, this place deserves its Five Stars. I didnt catch the name of the barber who did it but they were incredible!

Negative experience: Booked with Tate. Initially booked in for a one grade on site refers to " your hair will be cut to your chosen length throughout" but when in chair said it's just a one all around - essentially a buzzcut. Was under impression I desired set length: like a 4 guard back and sides. No problem - changed it to a haircut for £19. Then received an unintended fade instead of the requested taper. During the cut he re-affirmed 1# sides and back, of course I was thinking he was referring to the side & neck line(taper) which I requested in the consultation, the barber misunderstood this and applied it to the entire head - resulting in a fade. God knows why he thought I wanted to change the cut randomly throughout the booking. Confusion arose after the cut, and blame was shifted to me for not specifying the guard, despite suggesting a 3 guard in the consultation (which he agreed I said before apologizing). But let's say even if I didn't mention the guard, you don't just give someone a fade, changing the cut when you know the client wants a taper, you suggest or clarify the guard before you do the cut! Moreover, if he thought I wanted a fade, why was there no consultation on the type of fade(high, mid, or low) before he carried on cutting? It all seems bizarre looking back. Unprofessional in my opinion. Hair will grow back - but disappointed with the outcome, especially considering the £19 price tag. Decent chat and barber shop ambience, but that was overshadowed by the cut.
