Negative experience: Very disappointed. 2 days ago I stopped here to get my hair cut. It’s the most expensive barber shop for men in town so I went there for a good experience and normally it is. I sat down to get my hair cut by an older lady with black hair. She sat me down and when I was telling her in a calm manner what I wanted done, she kept asking “what” and didn’t take the time to even listen to me. by the 4th time I could realize she was going through something personally and just giving me an attitude for whatever reason. I then asked her what was wrong, if I said something to offend her, I was truly confused. She then shaved the back of my head and then said “you know what , you can wait for someone else or go somewhere else” and sent me back to the lobby after shaving the back of my head. I’m not sure what sparked this type of reaction from a professional but I think there should be a serious investigation about this place. I decided to go to another barbershop and gave them $100 tip for their amazing service. I would not suggest coming here, the price does not match the service and the other employees let me be humiliated without any offer to fix the situation. They wouldn’t even let me speak with a manager. I will be going to the news with this story as the footage will be on their camera systems any time between 10:30 - 11 AM. I would like a proper apology and investigation.

Negative experience: Terrible customer service was told they could accommodate today around 5 and then drove all the way down here from port alberni to be told they were not taking anymore will be the last time I come here and I used to come a lot also asked to speak with the manger and she avoided it 100% do not recommend anymore there service is terrible

Negative experience: Worst experience. The hairline is uneven and badly done. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Negative experience: Went for a straight razor shave and it was terrible. After 10 seconds under a hot towel he began to shave, so rushed not a close shave at all. For the price I expected a closer shave and better service very disappointed

Negative experience: Not impressed with my first time. Absolutely butchered my mustache, I only asked for it to be cleaned up. The straight razor experience was disappointing and i have a bloody neck now which is crazy. I get a cleaner shave at home with my electric razor.

Negative experience: Very poor management of customers waiting list. I was told a 50 min waiting list and then I waited an additional 45 minutes. I watched my position on the waiting list screen for to #1 with a waiting time of 0-2 minutes. Then waiting time went to 4-8 minutes. People who came in after me were served. Then my name dropped to #14 on the list. Ridiculous. Tommy Gunn has lost a regular customer.

Negative experience: I honestly wasn’t t very happy with my visit here was over 100.00 for my bald head to be taken to a zero with a straight shave that the stylist left all kinds of rough spots ! I’ll go back to my head trimmer and a dollar store blade get a closer shave!

Negative experience: Shocking that this place has 4.5 stars. I have not known a single person who has enjoyed the service or product of this establishment— myself included. Inexperienced staff, inattentive, poor service, and off task.

Negative experience: They cut my partners hair while I was gone away (I usually cut it myself) and this is what he came back with and paid $54. What in the hell is this even?

Fantastic experience: Took my one year old to see Bev today and she was fantastic with him! He was quite upset, even sitting on my lap, but she managed to swoop in and give him one of the best hair cuts he has ever had in 5 minutes. I highly recommend her. She was wonderful.

Negative experience: I had my head shaved a beard trim and they charged me $70 every time I go in there there’s new people the staff turnover is a sign and I just can’t believe the pricing for sitting in a chair for 15 minutes absolute rip off and I had to come home and trim up my beard anyhow.

Negative experience: I'm an Italian studying for a semester here in Canada, the only barber that is close to my house was this one. 40 dollars for such a poor haircut, done by a person who while cutting my hair was talking on the phone and didn't bother to listen to my instructions for the cut. I can't understand how people who do this job can mess up a simple low taper fade making it crooked and high, not to mention how he cut the hair on the sides too much and badly, and finally it is obvious that the hair on the right of my head is very different from the one on the left, don't go to this barber.

Negative experience: Barber didn't seem to understand when I said I wanted a fade. They just buzzed the sides and took some off the top. They also somehow clipped part of my beard and said nothing, I noticed this after I left. When I mented things looked uneven at the back they said it's just the lighting. They clearly didn't follow my hairline on one side. It's minimal but to me it was obvious. Not sure how weird it will look when it starts to grow back. This barber felt more like a get them in and out of the hair type shop even though they had a few barbers on standby.

Negative experience: I went to the place and described to the barber what I wanted and although didn’t express myself the best because I am international, I more or less got the point across, and the barber did not follow my instructions and the haircut looks like shit, he took only 15 minutes even though it was difficult to cut and long. The worst haircut I have ever experienced and it was way too expensive.the haircut was so bad I had to buy a hat 15 minutes after seeing my haircut. Fortunately I have a friend that will fix my hair for free. I will never come here again.

His artistry and attention to detail was very much appreciated during my cut and beard trim today. From the subtle nuances, to the sheer talent and personable approach- I was greatly impressed with him. Please keep him around for as long as possible. Please extend my appreciation and give that man a raise

Negative experience: Asked for a haircut to a specific photo, got nothing like it. It’s WAY shorter than I asked for and it is uneven in the back. This place is a joke. 50$ for a terrible haircut.

Fantastic experience: Adam is always amazing! Always consistent, friendly and accommodating. Its the furthest place to get my hair cut from where I live but it's always worth the trip!

Positive experience: Kora is a very Good stylist who takes a personal interest in her clients that transcends polite conversation. Your time in the chair is not finished until she is convinced that you are satisfied with her service. I am also impresssed with the efficiency of the front end reception. I do suggest, however, that additional seating may be required during peak hours.

Fantastic experience: Was totally wowed by the service I received. I’m a woman who has a short cut and I needed just the back of my neck cleaned up. They took great care of me and even gave me a hot towel treatment for $7. I would have had to pay north of $30 to get that done at a ladies hair salon, with no towel treatment!!!

Negative experience: If it weren’t for Chadi—who is, without a doubt, the best barber there—I wouldn’t bother with Tommy Gun’s Nanaimo at all. I highly recommend booking with him. Previously, I saw Bianca, who was also excellent, but she’s on maternity leave. Now, onto the experience of actually dealing with this shop. They don’t take appointments, which is frustrating enough, but trying to get in touch with them is an exercise in futility. The phone rings endlessly, voicemails go unanswered, and customer service appears to be more of an abstract concept than a functioning system. Today—Saturday, February 22, 2025—I called at 9:20 AM, knowing Chadi starts at 10. No answer. Left a voicemail. No response. When I arrived, I was informed that voicemails are inaccessible because only the owner has the code, and he happens to be in Saskatchewan. Logical. I asked why they even have a phone if no one answers it or listens to messages. Should I just keep calling until someone picks up? The front desk had no answers. I requested the owner’s business card—he doesn’t have one. A phone number? Can’t give that out. Transparency and accountability clearly aren’t high on the priority list. Bottom line: Go to Tommy Gun’s only for Chadi. In fact, Chadi should just open his own shop because this place is a masterclass in how not to run a business. Great barbers, abysmal management. It’s baffling that this shop is still open.

Negative experience: Uneven hack job for my 8 year old. No one picks up the phone when I call to request a refund (have photo evidence of how bad a job it is). Big fail.

Negative experience: Worst haircut of my entire life. I'll never go back here. I look like an idiot now. Even my coworkers say I don't look good anymore. She just shaved the side of my head and cut some of the top. I look like an absolute dumbass. As I was paying for it a glanced over and saw another hairdresser looking at me with a disappointed expression on her face. Even she knew how bad it was. Terrible.

Fantastic experience: If I could give them 6 stars I would. They were so unbelievably kind and patient when I brought my 1 and 3 year old boys in for hair cuts. My 1 year old was very unhappy during the cut and they worked with me to get it done, even with him wiggling so much in my lap. Unfortunately my 3 year old refused to get one but they were so sweet trying to help me make him comfortable enough to do it. The juice boxes and tv screens in the mirrors were a major bonus.

Negative experience: Saturday Nov.23, 2024. Have been to Tommy Guns a number of times and usually am happy with the service and the cut. This day was an experience that can not be explained away, I asked for a trim and off the ears.The police should be called and the barber charged with elder abuse, This is the worst haircut I have had in 82 years. Gouges missing over both ears. no layering at all and two different lengths on the back of my head. Not a happy experience, but yes, it will grow back in time

Fantastic experience: MAN! “T” was amazing, genuinely such a kind soul and gave me such an amazing cut. I’m usually pretty picky and hate my hair after most haircuts but she killed it. She knows what’s uppp! Also talked to me about the products she used and was quite educational.

Negative experience: I wasn't too happy after looking in the mirror at home. I called and left a message but I didn't get a reply back from the store or anything. The cut I asked for was a zero to one fade and to trim the tips of the longer hair I have up too and instead the man cut the hair straight at the tips like he was cutting a woman's hair. No layering or tapering at all and the fade is just a zero open guard and I have patches that are bald a right to the skin almost and hairs that are still long. I'm very disappointed. My hot towel at the end was just dropped onto my neck and flopped there like the cutter had better things to be doing. All the good I felt on my first cut has been dashed now and I waited six weeks to come down for north island to get this hair cut. Not happy

Negative experience: Your page says you are LGBTQ+ friendly but you refused to cut my trans friend’s hair. They made it clear they wanted a men’s cut, but the response they got was that you “don’t cut female hair”. I guess you don’t really support the T in LGBTQ+….

Fantastic experience: Adam gave me one of the best skin fades I’ve ever had. He even worked late and took his time to make it perfect. Really good barbers and really good atmosphere. Gonna be going to this location to see Adam from now on!

Negative experience: Called the store to book an appointment. The automatic reply said to book and check in online. I checked in online and got the the confirmation text. Called the store before I left to confirm the time was still good. The front desk person said my name was no longer in the que. I asked how I got kicked off and they told me I should have called to confirm.

Fantastic experience: I’ve always struggled finding a barber who gave me consistently good haircuts. But Bianca does a great job every single time. I won’t go to anyone else. And the staff is always so friendly.

I decided why not go down for Canada today. Was a good treat to clean myself up and the barber was very professional. Even the front counter was very nice. So yeah, I would recommend them.

Negative experience: after arriving at the woodgrove location this morning 30 mins before the shop opened. There was 2 people in line waiting for the store to open as it is first come first serve. As the doors opened a guy that had shown up after the 3 of us was helped first. when I came back after being told it was gonna be a 45 minute wait there was 2 other parties that had been helped. when I asked what was going on with the order of things the girl behind the counter was extremely rude and unhelpful. told me that they had checked in online witch didn't make sense as I was there when the store opened.

Fantastic experience: In typical fashion i usually decide to last minute a hair cut on a sunday at noon and i'm always struggling to get a seat somewhere. This time however was a much different experience when i picked up the phone and called Tommy's, after being rejected at my local barber who had no seats available as a walk in. I was promptly booked in after being told on the phone that it would not be a problem to get a hair cut. Great! My experience was pleasant while i watched a master stylist turn my mop into something i can strut. mama bear really likes the new flow! thanks for the great service!

Negative experience: Poor service from the barber who’s name is Miranda she has pink hair We brought my son there for a hair cut and she says to us how my sons hair looks dirty and has really bad bed head mind you my son had a shower last night and we left for NANAIMO 5 in the morning so we got my kids out of bed 4:30 in the morning to get ready and in the car She made a lot of rude looking facial expressions towards my son when cutting his hair This will be the last time I come to Tommy guns

Fantastic experience: I had my young boy in to get his haircut. Like most 5 year old boys, he’s very energetic and fidgety. The barber did an amazing job of making him feel at ease and gave him a totally cool haircut. I will highly recommend Tommy Guns to all my associates.

Fantastic experience: Had to get a haircut on a whim, was in the mall and asked if they had any spots available, they said 30 minutes but called me back in 10. Chadi asked what kinda cut I want and I asked him to do what he thinks would work best, Chadi gave my hair a rinse before the cut, his attention to detail was impressive. If you want a great haircut ask for Chadi, he’s the man.

Negative experience: I initially brought my two boys here for a hair cut. I left rather disappointed because one barber looked at my son's hair and denied service (without a second opinion from another barber) because apparently my son had headlice. I left embarrassed and humiliated. I'll never step foot in this barber shop ever again. Suchba disappointment experience altogether.

Fantastic experience: Mel, at Nanaimo Woodgrove location is an artist that provided services that changed my look with consultation and I'm ecstatic. I will follow her as long as possible. I'm 58 and I can't remember a better cut plus a great conversationalist. No I'm not a family member or friend just an appreciative client who just meet Mel. 2nd edit Went to Mel again, fast, efficient and she made me look professional again. She is a wonderful conversationist and a master at cutting hair. Thank you again.

Negative experience: I showed them 4 pictures of the haircut that I wanted and the end results looked nothing like it. I'm convinced they did not know how to do it and just did whatever they wanted. Ruined my whole week.

Fantastic experience: Bianca has been my barber for quite awhile now. I was fortunate to discover her when my last barber there cancelled on me. A blessing in disguise this was though as she is with out a doubt the best barber that I have ever had in my life. Her quality of service, professionalism, and dedication to her craft is second to none. I very highly recommend her

Negative experience: So upsetting, my husband went in for a “trim” this morning. He has been growing his hair for over a year. He said the moment he sat in the chair he got bad vibes from his hair dresser she was rude and abrupt stated “you don’t even know what you want do you?” Within 15 minutes all of his length disappeared into a feminine short bob style. We are devastated!

Negative experience: I have come here sense you have opened. I had the odd experience that wasn't the best but nothing to never make me not want to come back. Today i came in at 1235pm and walked out at 1245pm. The gentleman had no desire to be there , spent no time on my hair , no wash , no neck shave , he even decided to stop cutting hair to reply to a text. Didnt say a word to me besides "this okay". But in the end if i wanted a 10 min haircut id have gone to greatclips. My hair isnt at all the way i hoped it turn out and i never had a issue with this company till now. 40 dollars for a 10 min haircut....

Negative experience: i got a terrible haircut here and they overcharged. they hire barbers who don’t know what they are doing. i asked for a simple fade and the guy decided to just put a line and not fade it at all. it is terrible.

Positive experience: I like this location, and I use the one female barber that also does the hot shaves. She does a great job and takes her time. Service here is really good. I have gone to other locations, but it seems that the nanaimo location has the best service and best barbers.
