Expérience négative: I brought my son to Tommy Guns at Kenaston this morning for his birthday haircut. He turned nine today. When we walked in, we were told there was no wait which was great. One of the staff members went to nudge another staff who was on her phone sitting in the lobby, she seemed upset about something. He told her to take my son and she then called my son’s name. We followed her to her chair, and I told her that it was my son’s birthday. I was expecting a cheerful reply, but her expression didn’t change and she said, ok what is the haircut? She continued to seem upset. I showed her the photo that my son had chosen as his haircut. She nodded. And looked at the photo. I also showed her how much hair he wanted cut off the top. I came back out to the lobby. Whe I looked back, instead of giving him a fade she had gone down to a zero all around the bottom of his head. I was upset and told the staff standing at the front that I was upset about this. One of the staff defended her actions and I said that it was not a zero I had asked for my 9 year old with curly hair. I asked who I would make a complaint to and whether there was a manager. They refused to answer me, and in fact seemed to clam up and refuse to respond to me after that. They seems to take great offence to my concern. I said good customer service required at least responding to the customer and saying something like I’m sorry that is your experience. And in a friendly tone. However, they instead seemed to go talk to all their colleagues who walked around d giving me the side eye for daring to complain about a haircut for a child. Other customers were treated with a polite and friendly tone. While I was ignored. When I once again tried to tell them how upset I was and that this was my sons birthday cut, the front staff first refused to meet my eyes while I spoke then finally looked at me her. I said, excuse me, and then she actually apologized. I thanks her for the apology. After that it was clear that I was not welcome and not listed to as a customer with lots of staff standing around talking about other topics while starting at me. Talk about a horrible experience on my son’s birthday. Since it was just us treated this way I’m guessing it’s because I’m First Nations and my kid is from the Dominican. We are lot from Manitoba but moved here from Ontario. Before today, I never had such a terrible experience in Winnipeg. Thanks for nothing Tommy Guns. You e ruined the day for me for sure. I hope you haven’t als ruined my sons day.

Expérience négative: I had made an appointment with Gloria on line, when I arrived I was told she was to busy with walk-ins and could another barber help me. What is the point of making an appointment if they don't honor it? They advertised hair shampoo and hot towel as part of the service, it was not offered. My first and last time at Tommy Gun.

Expérience négative: My wife brought our kids here and had a decent experience. While she was there she saw guys having their beards trimmed and being pampered a bit. She recommended I go check it out. I had high expectations. They were not met. It felt rushed, impersonal and it didn't feel like my money/time was valued. There was essentially zero customer experience. To top it off, when I got home I noticed that both the beard trim and the haircut were lopsided and they forgot to shave my cheeks so I was still stubbly. I'm not driving all the way back to have that fixed... Had to do it myself. Honestly just very disappointed.

Expérience fantastique: I went to Tommy Guns today. I walked in and asked if I could get a haircut and she said yes. I have been going here for over 4 years and it is the best place to go to for a professional haircut. I sat down in the chair and Tonya was the one who served me today and she did an EXCELLENT JOB. You can tell she knew just what to do how when and where. She was very nice kind friendly and knowledgeable. I live about 45 minutes away and it's worth the trip. Anyone needs a haircut this is the place to go.

Expérience négative: Great haircut by a talented and kind stylist UPDATE just had my second cut here and it could not have been more uninspired. Barber did not appear concerned with the cut and that is how it turned out. I could see three other barbers and not one was speaking to their client. Not a smile on the place. Now I will be going to find someone willing to fix this mess of a cut.

Expérience négative: First time I had a painful haircut! Guy with man bun was digging clippers into my head even after I pointed out it was uncomfortable. He was really pushy about what haircut I should get even after I told him specifically 1 guard. Than got my hair washed and the water was super hot. I’m not sure if he was training or not but took awhile and I wanna look somewhere else after that experience

The estimated wait time is based on what the system expects in terms of which services are being performed on each Guest and how long it takes for those services to be performed. There are times when a Guest may request an extra service while they are in the chair, a service may take longer than expected etc. and this of course affects the wait times for everybody in the queue. Expérience négative: Had been going to a different branch for a long time with my son either at polo park or uni city location because we thought they provided better haircut than the other shop that we tried. however, we are very disappointed with kenaston location. unfortunately we had to go there because they have the shortest waiting time, we went there 5 minutes before the ETA but we were asked to wait for another 20 minutes. but thats understandable. the real problem: 1. the lady barber made my son a haircut experiment. does not look like how the picture I showed him, (my son's last haircut), did an edge up when I specifically told her that he needed a spike. no smoothness on the fade. 2. was scolding my son. my son is young and felt tickled when the clipper goes over the nape, I noticed that she was scolding my son for being tickled. my son even at a young age tried to make a conversation to lighten the mood but after the haircut he told me he was scared of the lady. 3. did not bother giving my son a shampoo or even ask him or me if my son wants a shampoo. 4. my sons haircut was charged as youth instead of child. If the staff was tired, she shouldve rest. it seems like we owe the lady barber a lot when we are the one who pays for the service.

Expérience négative: Literally my worst ever haircut and beard cut I have ever gotten after waiting 33mins after checking in on online says will seat you in 2-3 mins. Lies. Then walks in this woman, the woman was rude, very fast didn’t ask any questions,I said I want a skin fade on the sides and 1.5” left on top she obv can’t read a tape measure or ruler I have over 2” left. I went elsewhere to get it fixed up. She knicked me a few times I said ouch. (Nothing phases her) talked to past employees and this is just how this woman is. (She never told me her name) got a nice infection I had to use antibacterial cream for from the doctor. I’d stay far away from this rude uncleanliness place. Since yall didn’t want to contact me after I made a report I’ll make one here for everyone to read. You had your chance to keep me quiet now I’ll post here for everyone to see how this place really operates!!! I paid $93 to be tortured and cut up. Then had a lovely infection due to improper cleaning techniques from this place!!! STAY FAR AWAY

Expérience négative: Wish I had read some of the more recent reviews before I went in, dunno what's going on here but I just had the worst haircut experience of my life. I went in for a quick haircut on my lunch break because the cut I always get takes 20 minutes tops. The barber completely ignored what I asked for, said he wanted to try something different. I guess agreeing was my mistake, but I was caught off guard by being told that he wasn't going to do what I wanted, and assumed he'd at least do something similar. He kept "showing" me what he was going, but ignored me most of the times I reminded him that I couldn't see without my glasses. Then for the cherry on top I got suckered into buying $60 worth of product to make my new hairstyle look remotely presentable.

Expérience négative: I don’t normally write reviews, but this was a really disappointing experience at Tommy Guns Barbershop. I treated my husband and he went in for a mullet trim and a clean shave. He specifically asked to just keep the cut to the sides so the top could continue growing out. The stylist only trimmed his sideburns and just above the ear, which took maybe 5 minutes and that was it for the haircut portion. Not exactly worth $40. The stylist looked overworked and like she didn’t even want to be there. My husband also mentioned that she leaned on him quite a bit during the service, making it uncomfortably personal. She then washed his now short sideburns in about 2 minutes, which seemed unnecessary given how little was cut. The shave was the most time-consuming part, but unfortunately it was also the worst. The shaving oil dried out quickly, the blade wasn’t sharp, and the process caused a lot of pain. He left with redness, friction burns, bloody and irritated follicles, and still patches of missed hair. We paid nearly $90 for a haircut that barely happened and a shave that left his skin irritated and uneven. For that price, I would expect quality service, care, and attention to detail, none of which we received. Definitely not worth the money. I will not be going back. That's too bad because if the service was good I was planning on taking every man in my life so they could feel pampered. I suggested that my husband could go back, get a refund for the shave and get them to try again with his hair, but he was so turned off by the service previously provided that he doesn't even want to let them touch his hair again. I will be asking for a full refund.
Expérience négative: First and last time Im going to a Tommy Guns barbershop. My wife bought me a Shave & Haircut combo pack. The shave I got was absolutely painful, felt like the blade was dull and the shaving oil/lubricant kept drying up and getting tacky resulting in what felt like my facial hair getting ripped out. Asked for a mullet and got above my ear slightly blended. Never going here again or buying a cut from this awful brand. What i waste of money.

Expérience négative: I came in as a walk-in on the 8th and was told the wait would be about 20 minutes. After waiting 40 minutes, I decided to just book an appointment for 2:00 PM the next day (July 9th). I was told, “For sure, we’ll get you in then.” I showed up for my appointment on time, checked in, and still waited until 2:35 before I finally got frustrated and left. I told the front desk staff that I had been waiting over half an hour past my scheduled time, but there was no acknowledgment or apology. They were even taking walk-ins ahead of me, despite the fact I had a confirmed appointment and wasn’t waiting for a specific barber. It felt like a complete waste of time—especially since I drove in from out of town. It’s one thing to wait as a walk-in, but it’s totally unacceptable when you have an appointment.
Expérience négative: Let me start by saying I’ve been going to Tommy Guns for years and have probably spent well over $1000. My 2y/o son and I booked online for two haircuts. The wait time was 30 minutes so we waited at home and got to the shop with five minutes to spare. I ended up waiting 25 extra minutes for my haircut. Which is fine, they were busy, and I actually enjoyed my haircut, my barber was great. My son however, waited 45 minutes and within those 45 minutes had a barber come out, put her hands up and say loud enough that we could hear her “I’m not cutting his (a toddlers) hair.” To which the front desk attendant said “we have already skipped him.” We watched three people get seen before him that were walk-ins though he was next in line at 0-2 minutes. Finally, a barber said that he would do it. Despite being a customer for years, I will never come back to any of the locations because of the unprofessionalism towards my 2 year old son we witnessed today. In my mind, the barber in question and the front staff should be ashamed.
Expérience fantastique: I love the service, and the ability to check wait times and book in advance using the mobile app! Haydee is a very talented stylist and knows exactly the kind of haircut I like and also offers good recommendations.

Expérience fantastique: Best Haircut I've had in a long time! When I walked in they said this place usually doesn't do women's cuts but they said that some of the stylist are still willing to take me with open arms. Usually I'm worrisome when it comes to getting my haircut especially with my really curly hair, like often it's an awkward and uncomfortable experience but not this time around. Taiya made me feel comfortable, and welcome. We had a nice conversation and I didn't feel like she didn't want to talk... It was genuine connection. Had some good laughs. Most places I've been to don't have that personal touch with their customer. So It was very much appreciated I will definitely be coming back to get my haircut here, Taiya is a great stylist!

Expérience négative: I responsible, unprofessional, all booking system is just show off. I booked for 2 hou rs 15 minutes a head the same day. It was mid week mid afternoon. When I got there the front desk asked to wait for about 15 minutes. People came after me and went through for haircut. After 45 minutes I asked when will be my appointment front desk respond: you should wait for 30 minutes. I left the barbershop and won't go back.

Expérience négative: Probably the worst hair cut experience I've ever had. They were able to get me in right away which was the only redeeming quality of this experience. They didn't disclose that the sink at this chair didn't work so they wouldn't be able to wash my hair. The cut only took 20 mins where as a usual cut takes 45mins (which is totally fine when the barber takes their time and does a good job), felt rushed out, didn't listen to what I had asked for, and was not discounted for the lack of service. I'm truly disappointed in how this went. Will likely never go back.

Expérience fantastique: I took my son to have his hair cut. The service, quality, and personnel were very good. In the end, we got a can of pop, which was very good as well. Very big thanks to the specialists Nikita and Teya!
Expérience négative: Horrible experience. I went in just to get my pre existing cut cleaned up. I specifically said to keep it long on the top and the barber proceeded to cut the top short. Additionally, he cut my hairline at the back of my head down to a zero, it was abnormally high and did ZERO blending, so I just had a shelf of hair half way up the back of my head. He didn't mention anything about this and I told him that I like to keep my neck natural. I spent the better half of my evening finding a barber elsewhere in the city just so they could fix what this absolute dingleberry did to my hair. I've lost about 5" of length on the top and essentially had to be given a mid fade everywhere else just to attempt to make it look presentable. I'll be waiting months to try and get it back to where it should have been. Stay far away from this place!

Expérience négative: Regular haircut, I explain the person that I comb my hair from left to right and he cut it if I comb my hair from right to left. My wife make notice that the back does not look right. The haircut does not look clean and cutting more it forces me to use products that I told him I don't use or to comb my hair with a hair drier that I told him I do not use. Second time happening with male barbers in Tommy's. (edited regarding answer of TG team) It is not that I do not love my new style, I did not asked for new style. I gave directions to do something and he did it backwards. you do not mistake when you say from left to right and show with the hand how it is from left to right. When I arrived I had my hair comb from left to right. Right now it is nothing that you can do to fix, the hair needs to grow and look for expert hands and no untrained hands for a hair cut with scissors . By the way, I cut my hair in another location of Tommy Guns and with a guy that was been trained and it was really good, because you had a supervisor that was teaching. So when I say that Kenaston location does not have trained male stylist, it is true.

She is an unprofessional person who doesn't know how to cut hair properly and loves to argue with customers. She can't take any criticism for a bad job done. Expérience fantastique: It was the best experience I’ve had in over a decade! Welcomed by a friendly person at the front counter who took my info and mentioned minor wait of 30mins as they were clearly busy. Took me in 20mins so I got lucky. My hairstylist was named Anastasia I believe. Briefly explained to her what I wanted my hair to look like and for a back neck shave. She went to it right away. She did an outstanding job! She was very professional and quick but very careful to detail. My hair turned out exactly how I was hoping it would turn out. Great hairstylist. Great experience. Great location. Keep it up!
Expérience négative: Place is chill, barbers don’t ask you much if you like it or not, they just don’t cut the hair well, last time I went my barber went to hard on my neck and I got red spots. One barber shop I really recommend is central barbershop on academy rd, 30 dollars per haircut.

And I absolutely love the haircut I got yesterday I will definitely be coming back to the same young lady, I didn't catch her name but I'm super impressed. It's been many years since anybody was able to make me look good, but I think she made me look less ugly, lol. I'll be back :)

Expérience négative: I took my son's for a cut and checked in with a wait time of 10 min and waited over 40 min to get in. Then Sherry was the first person to be free and take in one of my boys. She asked me who I would want to go first and I told her I wanted my 2 year old to go first and told her he's a wiggly and will probably cry and she snapped back at me saying "oh no no I'll take the other kid instead". Seriously? Don't advertise that you cut kids hair if you are incapable and RUDE and don't know how to deal with kids. Then she took my older son in for the cut and I told her I wanted a comb over with the sides short and she gave him the ugliest cut with short bangs or something. Just horrible! I was not around Sherry while she was cutting bc I was with my younger son. The whole place was not welcoming at all and made me feel horrible once we left. Little kids are not perfect and they are loud but most establishments don't make you feel like crap about it. Never ever going back, and no one should see Sherry. I also asked to speak to the manager and the front desk girl assured me that someone will call me and no one ever did. Seems like a trend from the other reviews I read. If I could rate them zero I would!
Expérience négative: Have gone to tommy guns over the last few years and have usually gotten okay haircuts but went recently to get a haircut and got my hair done nothing like what i wanted it. Repeatedly told the barber to keep my hair long and keep volume in my hair and that just the back needed to be trimmed and the front cut from out of my eyes. I wear glasses so could not see what was being done and when i put my glasses on saw what a terrible job was done doing the opposite of what i had asked for. Was a generic haircut that the barber probably knew how to do instead of taking the effort to do my hair as i wanted it.

Expérience négative: My partner went in for a haircut and specifically asked not to use a razor, but the hairstylist shaved the sides of his head. The haircut itself is very poorly done and is far from the reference photos we brought in, his hair is now very choppy and bulky, and very disconnected from the top.

Expérience négative: I took both my kids for haircuts here and I cried the whole way home. Never have they had such awful cuts. One had a whole chunk of hair cut out of the top of his head right down to the skin. The rest of his hair was choppy everywhere. My other son specifically asked not to have a mullet and that’s what he got. His hair was also super choppy and not blended through the sides. Both kids were so upset leaving. We ended up having to pay for a second haircut the next day at a different salon. I’ve called the store twice and asked to speak to the manager and my call has not been returned. I would warn everyone not to step foot in this place.

Was told they could get me in in 35 minutes proceeded to wait well over an hour. Then read the screen that I would be getting in 17 minutes. I eventually just left. Huge waste of time for over priced hair cut.

I thought that to make a haircut for a kid wouldn’t be an issue especially for their price range, but as you can see on these photos I was wrong. Now, Tommy guns. what an amazing experience. The staff are super friendly and did an amazing job on my hair. The whole experience was great from start to end. With needing a haircut once a month. Expérience positive: I like coming here most of the time, but the biggest issue is the inconsistency between barbers. Some seem to really take pride and care in what their doing, and take their time to do their best. Others cut corners and try and get you in and out of the chair as fast as possible. Today for example... I set to get the "clean cut" that comes with straight razor neck cleanup, and hot towel service....there was no hot towel or straight razor. And this happens maybe 50% of the time where they just skip doing these to just get you out of the chair and the next person in. I've had just as many 1 out of ten experiences as I've had 10 out of 10. The fact that it's a coin flip everytime I go tells me it might be time to find a better place that's more consistent.

Expérience négative: I went in for a buzz cut trim that was listed as $27. I told the barber that I am growing out my hair from a buzz I received a month ago so all I needed was a trim down of the sides of my hair (because my hair was starting to look like a biker's helmet). The haircut took a total of 10 minutes, and when I went to go pay, the receptionist lady charged me $38 since my barber decided to use "multiple guards" for the trimmer. Since multiple guards were used, my simple haircut was classified as a normal trim which is listed $10 more expensive than the buzz cut. With the tip, it became a $40 haircut for a simple 10 minute trim. Tommy, please make your prices more reasonable and train your employees with some common sense. A 10 minute simple haircut should not cost anyone $40.
