I want to give a special shout-out to Marc 10/10—he’s a wizard with the scissors. I showed him a few photos, not entirely sure what I wanted, and he really took his time and came through. If you’re new to the city and don’t know where to go, definitely hit up Marc!

Experiencia fantástica: Incredibly lucky I randomly found Skip’s 6 years ago. Started going to the Southie location then switched to the South End when they opened because it was closer to work. In the 6 years I’ve been going there, I’ve never had even a mediocre haircut; they always do a phenomenal job. More importantly, the vibe is always welcoming and hilarious. The 80s and 90s pop culture references will put your local trivia game to shame. Anywho, book ahead, they are busy for the all the right reasons.

The kind where you’re just waiting to get out of the chair and you want it to end. Thankfully hair grows back and I figured I’d try a new spot with the hope that someone could clean up the mess. Roberto delivered. I have a pretty basic cut, but he took his time and paid attention to the details and had me looking fresh and clean. And throughout was an absolute pleasure to talk to. I would recommend him to anyone and will be back.

Experiencia negativa: I truly hated the experience I had. They never cut my hair the way I wanted. They gave me a ridiculous haircut. Even though I clearly said I wanted to grow my hair out, they went ahead and shortened everything however they wanted. Right now, I’m incredibly upset. And I told them this directly. I don’t think they’re talented or skilled at all. I honestly don’t understand how they have a 4.9 rating on Google or how Google even recommends this place. In my opinion, no one should go there.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been with the “Barber Magnate” Anthony since 2012-well before Skip’s opened up. I’ve been with my barber Paolo since ~2016 (shortly after Anthony went to Skip’s south end and P stayed in Southie for a period of time) and when P went to the South End, I had to follow. For me, the barber chair is my “spa” and place of solace and once you get a barber that you like-don’t give him/her up for anything! I’m at Skip’s once a month religiously. The service is top notch, it’s old school barbershop family time. Don’t sleep on Skip’s but make an appointment!! Shave and a haircut every time I walk out of there feeling like a new man!!

He really knows what he's doing, especially with the more complicated afro taper fades. On top of that, he’s one of the most genuine and friendly people you'll ever meet. Experiencia fantástica: Great service. On my first visit, I brought a picture of my last haircut from a barber that I was very happy with and been cutting my hair for a couple of years. Roberto studied the picture and asked a few questions and then cut my hair better than my previous barber. I was extremely happy with the cut and he's cut it 3 more times since and it continues to get better. The shop is also a great barber shop with good guys working there. It has an old school barber vibe and lots of good conversation going on, I highly recommend!

Usually when I ask for a low fade I end up with a high and tight or patchy sun-par fade. I noticed my co-worker had a nice low cut fade and asked who he was going to. Since then I’ve been going to Luis for over two plus years. Luis takes pride in his haircuts and his attention to detail is unmatched. Skilled not only with the clippers but the scissors as well. Great atmosphere in the barber shopas I have taken my daughters with me on several occasions when I did not have child care. Every barber is friendly and welcoming when you step inside.
