Experiencia fantástica: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) First time coming to The Spot Barbershop McAllen and I honestly couldn’t be happier. The shop is super clean, professional, and the vibe is great as soon as you walk in. I booked with Ivan (JR) and he absolutely KILLED it. I told him exactly what I wanted — keep my hair long on top and on the sides, but still give me a clean low drop fade with a sharp edge up — and he did it PERFECT. The fade came out super smooth, the blend was on point, and he made sure everything looked clean and natural without taking off any length. The line-up was super crispy, the detail was insane, and he really took his time to make sure everything was flawless. Hands down one of the best cuts I’ve ever gotten. If you’re looking for a barber who really knows how to fade and keep your hair the way you want it, I HIGHLY recommend Ivan (JR). Definitely coming back!

Experiencia negativa: I took my 8 year old for a trim (shoulder-length hair) and they completely chopped it off, unevenly and looking like Princess Diana in the 90s. I don’t know how it went from “trim” to a totally different look we didn’t ask for.

Experiencia positiva: First of all, The Spot is my place to go for great service. I have never had a bad experience. (It'd be cool if you all would change up the music once in a while to Rock also lol.) I digress. I always stick to one barber, my barber. He knows me and he knows my hair. Secondly, I am well aware of the $20 fee (on your next visit) for late cancelations 3 hours or less, or no shows if you made an appointment. A few days ago, 2 hours before my appointment at 12 o'clock noon, I received an email stating that my appointment was canceled. I called my barber who explained the situation, an emergency he had to tend to. Totally understandable, such is life right? My barber was going to be on vacation for a week, and mentioned he could fit me in at a later time which I could not do. I was left to go through another barber, who did a great job, if it was what I asked for. I still paid full service plus 20% tip. A few months before this. I had to suddenly cancel my appointment within an hour of my scheduled time due to rushing to the hospital because my dad was being rushed to the ER. Upon my next visit, I was required to pay the $20 cancelation fee, paying $54 in total. I asked my barber if the fee could be waived because of my emergency, but I was told it was policy. Look man, I dont think it is right to be canceled on last minute with no compensation, after I was charged extra for the same thing. In both situations there was an emergency and both cancelations were last minute. Emergencies happen, you cant help it. I paid what I paid plus tip, with no complaints. Even after not receiving what I asked for.

Sat in the chair, and Marco hit me with the usual, “What are we doing today?” I said, “Whatever you think would look good. I’m not looking for anything special—I’m just trying to look decent since my life feels like a mess.” He didn’t even flinch. Just nodded and said, “Say less.” Mid-trim, I start venting—my rent’s overdue, my girl left me for a guy who sells elotes preparados, my 3-legged, deaf, hairless puppy needs surgery, and I’ve been separated from my family since the age of 7. Marco puts the clippers down, looks me in the mirror, and says, “We’re gonna fix this, king.” Next thing I know, he pulls out a stack of cash—not to flex. Almost 50 for a trim with no straight razor. Thos prices are wild . Trim was ok I've had better for way less. Ever since the pandemic barbershops have been stupid expensive.
