After my visit on January 27, I had some concerns about part of the service and reached out to the shop to address them. I appreciated that the team followed up and worked with me toward a resolution. The owners ultimately provided a credit card refund for the portion of the service in question, which I feel was a fair and appropriate solution. I’m grateful for their willingness to address the situation and make it right. I’ve valued this shop for a long time and appreciate the effort to resolve the issue professionally. She was knowledgeable, patient, and cut my hair better than I expected even though she had a horrible experience prior to my appointment. They could at least staff the phones. The last appointment the receptionist was rude. Been going there for a two years and it’s probably time to make a change. I’m not going to work through their website to make an appointment.every time. And deal with AI receptionist for a high priced haircut.

All of the apprehension was gone after the initial talk with my professional Alex! She’s amazing! She took the time to listen, laid out the game plan and excited to perfection! This is now my spot and I have scheduled my next appointment ..with Alex of course. So find your person gents! They are right here at Steel Blades Men’s Salon! P.S. On my way out I saw a glorious beard (jealous because I can’t grow one) looked sharp and I heard this guy say he looked bougie with the biggest smile. Get in her boys, you won’t regret it.

They provide a wide array of services from haircuts, (razor) beard trims, facials, scalp treatments, hair coloring, etc. A co-worker of mine recommended this place to me, & my stylist April was amazing. She really has a passion for haircutting & it shows in her work. Experiencia fantástica: It had been maybe 2 years since I had last gotten my hair cut and really needed to freshen up. Before, I was worried because simply going to a normal barbershop usually meant they would just take clippers to my hair, but finding this place was a lifesaver. My stylist, April, was very accommodating and kind, and knew how to make conversation. While I generally knew what I wanted to do with my hair, she made sure it actually came out good as I have no experience in regards to cutting hair. All in all, my curls were given life again and I am more than happy. I will be returning.

Experiencia negativa: This place is adequate if you don’t care who your stylist is. The turnover is high, communication is poor, and there is obvious pressure to move clients through quickly. The last issue for me was that the stylist who cut my hair had already given notice at the time of my previous appointment, yet they still booked me with her. They did not inform me that my appointment would be reassigned until I arrived. Staff gave an unconvincing explanation about my account being linked to my son’s, which doesn’t make sense given the number of emails and texts they send directly to me. In short, the haircuts were fine, but the business owner handled the situation poorly.

Experiencia fantástica: This is the best place to get your hair cut, in my opinion. They have a great variety of talented stylists. My go-to is Shane—he always does exactly what I ask for unless he thinks it won’t look good, and then he points me in a better direction. He’s fast, efficient, and never wastes time, but still very personable and enjoyable to talk to. I see him almost once a month and always look forward to my next visit.

Experiencia negativa: I loved working with Celeste, so it was frustrating to discover 15 minutes after arriving for my appointment that she’d taken another job and Steel Blade had booked me with someone else without clear notice. A generic auto-confirmation of the date and time is not adequate notice—like many people, I receive dozens of emails a day, and it matters who cuts my hair. I chose Steel Blade because it emphasized matching clients with stylists who understand their hair; that no longer seems true under current management. When I asked about the switch, the manager talked over me repeatedly and suggested it was my fault for not noticing. For the prices Steel Blade charges, I would expect a phone call or a clearly labeled message about the change. This prior communication failure is forgivable, but the way the manager handled my concern is not. I won’t be returning.

Experiencia negativa: I cannot in good conscience give this shop a great review. I've done about 3 or 4 appointments since June. I've seen 3 maybe 4 different barbers. They either know how to cut hair, or trim a beard. Never both and never great either. Nisha was the exception to the rule and the best there, who seems to no longer hold employment. The pricing is outrageous for the lack of consistent quality. Save yourself the trip.

Experiencia positiva: Been here for a few cuts at this point, still really enjoy the experience. You get some complementary beverages, you get to put on a robe so cut hair won’t get all over your clothes, and it comes with a relaxing hair wash and hot face towel that also makes it so you can enjoy your haircut right away rather than having to worry about cleaning off loose cut hair. The cut itself is also excellent every time. My only gripe is that the price is fairly steep for a haircut and the product they sell, while high in quality, has a fair bit of mark up.

Experiencia negativa: Over priced. They make you pay upfront because of the poor service they provide. I booked a beard conditioning and trim for my boyfriend. He said the lady who gave him the cut was cold and didn’t really talk to him and rushed the experience. I ended up paying over $100 and then was charged an additional $90 on top of it. They did refund me $60, however for the service and trim it was wayyyyy over priced . My boyfriend said it was the worse experience he ever had at a salon. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Experiencia negativa: I’ve been here 3 times. Each visit has had a wide variance in quality that is inconsistent with price point. My most recent visit was the worst. The stylist trimmed my hair unevenly, didn’t clean up my neck, and clearly wanted to get me out as fast as possible. It really didn’t live up to the price tag. *UPDATE* After the blame shifting response from the owners, I've switched my review to one star. It's not that I *feel* that the services didn't meet my expectations. They didn't at all, and you've completely avoided taking responsibility for this. I literally didn't even get my neck trimmed, and the hot towel service didn't last more than a minute. Basic services were not rendered and the full price was charged. I spent 100 dollars on my last visit. I didn't receive 100 dollars worth of service. Least you could do is say sorry and not try to blame me for your failure. I've included the invoice so everyone can see how much I paid, as you implied I was lying about the price too.

Experiencia fantástica: I recently had gone to prepare for my brother’s wedding. I always avoid getting my hair and beard professionally cut due to my (illogical) fear of someone messing it up. I put my faith in the hands of Mateo and I was not disappointed whatsoever with him, or the establishment as a whole! Mateo was extremely knowledgeable and really put me at ease even before he touched a single hair! Perfect trim and styling of my beard to blend flawlessly with a clean shaven head. Mateo, as well as some of the other staff members, were simply a joy to interact with and really gave it that “relaxing with friends” vibe. I was told beard tips and tricks as well as offered products (in house) that really made the difference in how to properly care for a beard. I will definitely be going back monthly (at least) for a trim if not more. Definitely worth the visit to prepare for an event or to just treat yourself or a loved one to a fresh cut and a self confidence boost! Great, clean, comfortable establishment!!

What I walked into was a beautifully elegant atmosphere that was pleasing to all of the senses. I was greeted and promptly checked in, escorted to the most comfortable, accommodating waiting area I have ever had the pleasure of sitting in. I had a complimentary drink and snack during my short wait. Once my stylist, Mateo, was ready, he personally walked me to the styling area, as he asked if I took advantage of the refreshments. Mateo was kind, gentle, and accommodating in every way possible, creating an unbelievably comfortable environment. He was receptive of what I wanted for my beard trim, asking detailed questions to clarify exactly what I was needing. I can't wait to come back and receive more spectacular service. I was anxious due to some thinning from some medications, but I was pretty determined to see what could be done before giving up and shaving. I had gone in with an idea that Mateo took and executed into something better than I had hoped. Relieved some of that stress while feeling and looking great. He took the time to truly address the problem area, while blending it with the rest of my hair seamlessly. A relaxing atmosphere through and through. The wait before was pleasant and high class, Mateo gave clear and direct commentary on what he was doing. Stacey gave me great advice on some product I could try to help prevent further hair loss on my way out, which has indeed helped with the issue. From stylist to owner, I am impressed as could be.

Experiencia negativa: Mateo did a terrible job in cutting the hair. He can cut alright but just didn't know how to style it. Gave me the worst hair cut I have had in years. It also felt like he was rushing it. He didn't offer much recommendation or suggestions on how he was looking to get it done and just went for it. And they tried to upsell you products that Mateo recommended. Firstly, he didn't recommend anything and I didn't get to try on any products. He asked if I would like to apply any. Usually I let the hair dresser decided. When I was unsure, he said whatever you want man. I would rather go with someone who knows how to style and can offer suggestions before doing anything. The service is definitely not worth the price and the upselling screams salesmen not stylists.

Experiencia negativa: I booked a 2 PM appointment at Steel Blade Men’s Salon and even prepaid $65. I drove an hour and a half from Española, NM, but due to traffic I arrived 10 minutes late. Instead of showing any understanding, they flat-out refused to cut my hair. To make matters worse, they initially refused to refund me—basically trying to keep my money for no service at all. I had to argue with the front desk for about 5 minutes before they reluctantly processed a refund. If I hadn’t pushed, they would’ve just pocketed $65 for nothing. Completely unprofessional and an absolute waste of my time and gas.

Experiencia negativa: This is actually one of the worst "professional" cuts I have ever gotten. I have had higher quality haircuts for free from friends and family with no training whatsoever. My stylist was 15 min late and it really feels as if my haircut was left halfway done because she was rushing to finish. Not at all what I asked for and does not look like the picture I showed her. This is particularly jarring since I had very high expectations based on all the reviews of this place and the price. Definitely not worth the money. I will be looking for a new place next time. Don't know how this place has such high ratings if they allow their stylists to operate like this

I was always wearing hats to try and cover the bad haircut I got from someone else and now I won’t be feeling like that any time soon. My top was thinned and overgrown if that makes sense and the back was really full and long. Nikki cleaned up everything perfectly and had great conversation the whole time. Experiencia negativa: My boyfriend had a very upsetting experience at this salon today with Mateo. He’s an extremely kind and gentle person and would never complain himself, but I felt compelled to share on his behalf because I’ve never seen him so upset about a haircut. He went in with clear goals: he wanted to keep his hair long, remove some bulk, and grow it out, moving away from the high-and-tight military cut he used to have. He even brought inspiration photos to make sure his vision was understood. He clearly told Mateo that he didn’t want anything drastic — just a clean-up that would support his hair growth journey. Unfortunately, Mateo did the complete opposite. He gave him an aggressive, short haircut that looks nothing like what he asked for. It felt like Mateo decided to freestyle rather than listen to what my boyfriend actually wanted. This wasn’t a miscommunication — it was a disregard for the client’s request. He paid over $70 expecting a professional, customized service, but left feeling like his wishes didn’t matter. Haircuts can be deeply personal, especially when someone is making a big transition in style, and this felt like a huge step backward. We understand that mistakes can happen, but this felt careless and inconsiderate. I hope the salon takes feedback like this seriously — people come here trusting they’ll be heard and respected. Today, that trust was broken. I have attached photos of his hair before when he went into the salon, the exact reference picture that he showed Mateo, and how he left.

Experiencia negativa: One of the worst haircuts I’ve had in years. I’m new to town and usually go to upscale salons expecting a better product, but this place fell far short. Let this be a warning to anyone new in the area who might be convinced by the photos suggesting it’s an upscale salon or barbershop, the quality just isn’t there. I left very disappointed and would not recommend it.

Experiencia negativa: Walked in at 6:30 sharp on a Thursday, went out of my way to come here specifically because I need a men's salon for an emergency haircut after my normal Barber unexpectedly retired this week, and the reviews are good. Their own Website and Google said they're open till 7, but they were drawing the shades and said they're closed when I walked in. No explanation. With my regular barber done, I'm looking for a new place, but why would I come back if I can't trust the hours that they publicly post? I'll give an extra star cuz it smelled and looked nice inside, but I won't be back. Not sure what I'm going to do about my hair for tomorrow.

I mean, seriously, who gave you the right to make me look this good? My ego is inflated, my confidence is through the roof, and frankly, it's becoming a logistical nightmare. The sheer audacity of Liz to provide such an impeccable, flawless, and frankly, too-good-to-be-true haircut is just beyond the pale. The fades are too smooth, the lines too crisp, and the conversation was entirely too pleasant. I almost enjoyed myself, which is NOT what I signed up for when seeking a professional service! Consider this my formal grievance: you've raised the bar impossibly high for all future haircuts, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to keep coming back now, just to maintain this ridiculous level of handsomeness. THANKS. My only request? Please, next time, try to be a little less fantastic. It's too much. Five stars, you absolute magicians. Don't change a thing (except maybe tone down the perfection a tiny bit for my own sanity).

Experiencia fantástica: I have tried many shops at this point, and steel blade is definitely a contender for the best place for men’s haircut in the city. It was super easy to make an appointment, they had a lot of slots available; I was even able to make an appointment the day before. The customer service was excellent. The reception person was super friendly and there were complimentary drinks while you wait. It really makes you feel like a VIP. My barber Roxanne also did a killer job cutting, washing, and styling my hair. My hair isn’t easy to cut and style but she handled it really well. She was also super nice and good to talk to. Overall, the price might be elevated if you are used to shops like sports clips, but for the professionalism and the quality of service I think ~$60 is a bargain. Definitely coming back for my future haircuts.

Experiencia negativa: I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. They were dishonest about the pricing and added services to my son’s hair without my approval. When the stylist mentioned she needed to add something, she clearly said it would be $20, which I agreed to. But when it came time to pay, the total included several other add-ons I never approved. I called it out, and instead of apologizing, the guy at the front acted offended—when I was the one being taken advantage of. He turned to the stylist to confirm, and she pretended like she didn’t know what he was talking about. Despite all this, I paid and even tipped—but that doesn’t make what happened okay. To make matters worse, I asked for blonde/almost white highlights, and she gave my son chrome highlights instead. We had to go somewhere else to get it fixed. Completely unprofessional and disappointing. I would give a Zero, but there’s no option for that!

Experiencia fantástica: FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! I was a bit weary walking into a men's salon as a woman. But I have short hair and heard Mateo was the best. This place is absolutely fantastic. Welcoming from the second you walk in. Mateo was just wonderful. He worked magic on my hair with meticulous care and detail. I will absolutely be back.

Experiencia negativa: Refused to cut my long curly hair with no attempt to refund me or make it right. Place was nice. Cool setup but that was completely overshadowed by the fact that my hair wasn’t even cut. I understand hair like mine can be challenging to work with, but when they advertise as providing services for all kinds of hair, it was disappointing to be sent home after a 5 min “clean up” that I could’ve done with my electric razor at home.
