I recently moved into the city and was looking for a place I could go regularly (almost every month). The shop is clean, they do a great job with haircuts (all my friends have some back with similar reviews based on my recommendation), the staff is professional and well trained AND is quite reasonable for NYC!

None of which come close to the professionalism and quality this Barbershop provides. Place is super clean, use top of the line hair products, and prices are reasonable. Most importantly it's the barbers ability to cut in such precise detail every single time! I go to them once a week for their hot towel shave for my beard and I come out looking like a front-page GQ magazine. Parties-Weddings-Job interviews-Special Occasions you name it, these guys hook it up every single time!! These barbers specialize in all types of hair. Modern, Trendy, Old-Fashion, etc. Definitely check these guys out, you wont regret it!

Mark is extremely skilled, takes his time, and really listens to what you want — the cut came out exactly how I asked and still looks great weeks later. You can tell he takes real pride in his work. The shop itself is clean, welcoming, and has a great vibe. Everyone was professional and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. This is the kind of place you feel comfortable coming back to every time. I walked away from my 2nd visit, really happy with one of the best haircuts I’ve had but my haircut from a few days ago was terrible. Didn’t do what I asked, cut my hair in a way no other barber has ever done before and did everything to get me out the chair as quickly as possible. I won’t be returning because it’s too inconsistent.

Experiencia negativa: I am a Bmcc student and I frequent the area everyday. I always wanted to have the opportunity to come here and have a haircut because of the good reviews i read on google maps. Unfortunately i did not have the good experience i was looking for. Since the begining my barber treated me with attitude, he was doing it really fast like as if I was not going to pay or even as if i was not goint to tip. I felt they ratially profiled me and assumed that by the way i look i was somebody not to be taken care in the proper way. I asked for a cut and beard shave. They cut the hair but the beard really got me thinking if this was the service i was expecting. They did not shave my beard, they just pass trim it and left me those zones with hair. I will have to go to another barbershop to clean this but i felt really bad because it was my first time, and as a student passing here everyday i was expecting to find a good service, near the area where i move around everyday. If you want to be treated right apparently at this location then you better look the part please go dress like a finance bro because if you go like me with your work clothes, you will get disappointed I paid $65 and tipped $20, even though it was not for the proper attention i was looking for. The beard is not aligned properly (straight line) , i have patches of fair and they have not shaved the hair below the beard, they only trimmed.

Rays Barbershop adds that personal touch, and will powder and wipe your neck down, and they will even offer a little product to complete your look. prices are average for NYC but you never wait long and service is above and beyond for what you get typically at a barshop. Ray's welcomes everyone, they are conveniently located just off of church street. A great Barbershop at a good price and very little waiting time. Tipping in cash is preferred if you feel inclined to do so. Rays Barbershop is a neighborhood staple in Tribeca.
