Negative experience: Long time customer , though service has gone way down hill. Have a hard time getting an appointment. When I scheduled one it is cancelled without notice. If they are going to offer services they need to provide them when they set availability. If you plan on leaving at 5 don't set your name as your open till 530. Lots of people don't get off until 4( and plan to get there at said time) and have an hour driving time to get to your location for a good hair cut, this is the third time this has happened. Will be searching for a new barber now

Fantastic experience: Scout’s was recommended to me by my brother-in-law to take my son to for a haircut. I was nervous about the check-in process as we only had a limited time to get him in as we were traveling. We were able to get in right when they opened. The barber (Josh, I think?) was pretty quiet, but my son can be shy so I think it was a good fit. He did a fantastic job and was quick, and the price was reasonable. I don’t know if we’ll get the chance to visit again, but we would definitely come back here again!

Fantastic experience: This place is the best. I was recommended by a friend to visit Joey @ Derby City Chop Shop Highlands. The older I get the harder it is to like a haircut. Joey listened to exactly what I wanted. Very skilled, patient, and friendly! The waitlist was transparent and reasonable. The entire crew is smiling/having fun. Great vibe inside the shop. I will definitely be going back. Next time I’ll probably include a beard trim as well. Thanks Joey! Feeling fresh.

Negative experience: They make you sign in online and don’t take appts this would be fine however the que will say you have 2 hours but they will tel you 5 minute later that your up next and then they expect you to be there right then which is literally impossible for most people. My mom got into a car wreck last week and since I had an emergency and had to cancel they in turn banned me when I’ve been going here for years. The world doesn’t revolve around your shop. Maybe pretend like the customers even slightly matter to you.

Negative experience: Terrible place walked in and they said go online well I don’t have a phone what ever happened to first come first served and you can’t put me on the list for a haircut come on well last my business and 6 other people as well told my roommates to go somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: Joey fixed my hair up today and did an amazing job. He listened to what I wanted and asked me questions about my hair, etc. I went through chemotherapy this year and lost all my hair, so it’s grown in kinda funky and he was able to help me regain my confidence my creating an intentional haircut. 10/10 will go back to see Joey. He also has been cutting my partner’s hair for a while so was recommended to me highly.

Negative experience: Waited for an hour after I checked in when I was told 40 minutes. They should hire someone to work the register and manage appointments.

Fantastic experience: Would recommend this place 100 times over. I think I had a different barber every time (just because I never wanted to wait for a specific person) and I was never disappointed with the cut. It was always fresh, fast, the barbers that would have conversations were really funny and nice, and I really liked the vibe of the shop. If I didn’t move from the area I’d definitely still be going.

Fantastic experience: Always smooth and easy. I never minded the wait in the past, i actually kind of miss reading juxtapose at the table for a bit. Now the wait list sign-up online and text to keep you posted of your spot in the queue, let's you plan your day perfectly. Today was the first time I had the first appointment of the day. I might do that timeframe again and again, and parking was easy in the morning. Josh is my go to, I love his haircuts because they always look great instantly, but they grow in real nice!

Negative experience: Decent cut but the worst scheduling system I’ve ever had to deal with.

Negative experience: I have been here a few times. However, the poor queuing system outweighs the cost and quality. The current system requires you to be ready at any time within a multi-hour window. The system gives you an estimated start time, but you may or may not be called at any moment before then. If the wait happens to be shorter than anticipated, you will not receive an update until your name is actually called. The notification will ask for your ETA but you will still lose your place in the queue. Once you can arrive, you stop receiving updates altogether, leaving you with no timeframe for when your haircut will begin. Today, I spent three hours on the queue before having to leave without getting my haircut. Some of this time was spent on a rather uncomfortable waiting bench. In my experience, you must put everything else on pause and wait in uncertainty for 2-4 hours to get a cut here. I feel this is too much to ask of customers.

Fantastic experience: Been getting my hair cut here for over a decade. Both locations are good, but I prefer the Highlands location. Brandon is my go to barber, and you have to sign in early to get on his list. I have never had a bad haircut from here. Also, at one point over the past 10 years I moved to Elizabethtown & would still drive an hour here on Saturdays to get my hair cut. Again, over 10 years & never a bad haircut.

The vibe is good and the haircuts are always solid. I have had my haircut done by a different barber each time and they are always making the hair look good. Best place in the city and I’ve tried ‘em all.

From construction workers to business leaders, every type of person can be seen here. Well worth the money and wait. Make sure to get in the online queue early, as they can run out of spots.

Positive experience: Very precise work all around. But it is a bit pricey, the barbers aren't the most conversational. For better or worse, it's got the vibe of a tattoo parlor not a barber shop.

Positive experience: Always a good haircut but the waitlist function doesn’t work as intended. It’s time is usually wrong and even if you’re #1 in the waitlist with a 0 min wait sometimes they’ll let three people go ahead of you.

Fantastic experience: With your hair always growing back like a pesky weed in the lawn. It's good to know you'll have many barbershops / haircut joints around the area of Louisville that's worth trying out. This one was one of them. There clean and modern and got many items and pictures around the store to check out while you wait around for your turn. As for the cut, it was quick but not to quick. A good balance of time to get the job done right and leave happy with the cut you just got. Your mother or GF will definitely compliment you on how handsome you look after too. So give this place a chance,  not like your hair wouldn't grow back if your not satisfied.

The website will also give an estimated wait time to help you decide when to get there. As always the staff was great and take great care when giving you the right cut.

Very clean space and great atmosphere there. They don’t take appointments over the phone but you can appointment for same day over there. They work according to your requests. Definitely recommended if you are looking for haircuts and shave in a town.

Negative experience: I purchased an 80$ gift certificate for beard maintenance for my husband. With covid obviously the store hasn’t been open. My husband has been trying to get in for an appointment. When he finally does get in he’s told that they aren’t doing beards. He can use it on hair cuts. My husband is bald. What good is this certificate. I would like a refund.

Negative experience: Currently this shop have an open sign in list starting at 8 at. You receive text updates when to start heading towards the shop then again once you are up. I received the text to head to the shop Because I was up soon slinky to wait outside the shop for 2:30 hours. After an hour and forty five minutes I inquired via text the ETA. I was told 20-25 min, then waited another 45 before I went inside to cancel my “appointment””timeslot”. I do not recommend this shop and will not return.

Fantastic experience: I’m from out of town, and didn’t know where to get a great haircut. I was speaking at a conference in downtown Louisville and needed a last minute cut & beard trim to look fresh for my keynote. Cody (at the Germantown location) did a great job. Super cool vibe, not too expensive, and most importantly they care more about quality than quantity. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Was recommended from Daniel, Bar Manager at Derby City Gaming. My experience was great! Once recommended I looked at their the Derby City Chop Shop website and it looked as if you had to schedule, but I wanted something there next day and it wasn't available. Not being familiar with the process I emailed the information I found on their contacts page. It was Sunday and I got an email back within minutes letting me know just to come in the next day whenever I was ready. So I did, and I was lucky enough to park directly in front of the store! Ok, good start. Went inside looked around... Neat place, everybody was busy but I noticed the stand with the tablet so I read it and signed in. After seeing my wait time was just under 30 minutes... I was very happy to find out a policy. Regardless of the list, if everyone ahead of you isn't there when a barber is ready, you're next!!! Total wait time. 3 minutes! After shaving and buzzing my hair the last 16 years I decided to grow it out and Joe said her would clean me up, nice and even. Professional vs. Survivalist and he delivered Overall experience 5/5.

Negative experience: Barber had no experience with a razor and had my neck bleeding with small cuts. I've gave this place multiple opportunities to gain a loyal customer and they have dropped the ball everytime. Don't waste your time go elsewhere.

Positive experience: Full disclosure... I’m not a bearded man. Although my facial hair ranges between pubescent and withered paintbrush, my wife gifted me a straight razor shave from this here establishment. Walking through the entrance I nearly tripped over the masses of men and other nondescript genders waiting for their turn in the chair. I signed in on a tiny kiosk that informed me the wait would be 2 hours. I’ve never waited two hours for a haircut in my life. And true to form, I didn’t wait 2 hours for a shave either. I pranced on down to Carmichael’s to peruse the literature and after an hour decided to head back. Which I’m glad I did. My wait was roughly 15 minutes from the point of my return, but I had never received a text from their system. If I wasn’t present, I wouldn’t have gotten my shave. The shave itself was ok. First time I had a man treat my face with such care and concern. The shave itself was smoothest and the closest shave I’ve ever had. So smooth I didn’t realize how much my chin had been cut up until he dabbed alcohol around the wounds.... but it was good and close. It was a decent shave, it probably the last time I allow another man to shave me.

The music is good and your barber will thrill you with conversation or if you'd rather not talk they'll just talk to each other...which usually ends up being more entertaining anyway. Negative experience: If you have 1.5 hours to wait and finish a cut I still wouldn't recommend it. I have seen three different barbers between the two locations. The haircut is never what I asked for. Some reviews say the long wait indicates a good job. I say it indicates incompetent barbers.

Fantastic experience: "Best ******g barbershop in town, no one comes close; I won't go anywhere else!" –my husband. Last year I took my 9 and 11 year old sons there for a fancy barbershop haircut… and now they too will go nowhere else. My families favorite barbers: Sean, Nick, and Troy (in no particular order). The atmosphere is awesome, the customer service is excellent, their snazzy sign-in system is convenient, their publicly shared waitlist makes it easy to plan, and they never make my sons feel like they shouldn’t be there because they're kids.

Fantastic experience: Been coming here for two years and just one phenomenal experience after another. I think every barber is extremely talented but I tend to stick with Joey and shawn (keep someone who I work with consistently). Getting a haircut there is my "me time". Go put in for a cut, walk across the street for lunch and a good craft beer, come back, then leave looking and feeling like a million bucks.

Fantastic experience: Only place I'll get my haircut. They have a computer you can sign into that let's you know how long the wait will be and they text you when your turn is coming up. So no need to wait inside if it's too crowed. You can also select the type of service you want and if you'd like a specific barber. All the barbers are cool, great music playing and cool atmosphere. There's usually a wait but it's worth it.
