Fantastic experience: Just moved out to Iowa 12/25 and dreaded looking for a new barber bc it's seems to always take a few cuts to find someone that cuts hair the way you like it but I came to Men's Room and Chris my barber did such a phenomenal job I had no reason to look any further and been coming every week or so since. The environment is relaxed and positive plus from what customers say all the barbers here are excellent so I don't think it matters what barber you end up with you'll definitely leave pleased and feeling good

Negative experience: Tried taking my 2 year old a plant fell and they blamed it in my son told me I had to clean it up and when it fell my son then the guy started telling his little co workers that my son did it so I walked out and will never go there again

Negative experience: dont come here if u got long hair, scheduled an appointment and still had to wait 45 mins just to get into a chair, gave the dude a picture of what i wanted and told him a very light trim on the beard just to clear uneven hairs, man faces me away from the mirror and is crackin jokes with his friend the entire time. Dead serious my hair looked like it got chopped with a machete extremely uneven locks of hair and overrall a terrible cut, and with the beard bruh almost took my entire beard off bald. Went to another shop in order to fix what they did (which they did) and the barber at the other store was straight up appauled that i paid full price for this cut. They aint serious here, cannot recommend at all.

Fantastic experience: I live in the Iowa City area, but I've been traveling up to the Men's Room for about 3-4 years now, usually every 1-2 months. Chris takes care of me each time, and I'm convinced there isn't a better haircut I can get in the area. The travel is well-worth it each and every time.

Fantastic experience: "Capt Zach" was solid. From out of town, and always leary about a new barber. Awesome fade, beard trim, experience.

Positive experience: Normally, I love when my man comes here they do good cuts most of the time. Unfortunately they need to be more flexible and accommodating with their scheduling. He was going to be just 5 minutes late for his 6:30 appointment and even called ahead to let them know. They close at 7:00, but still told him they wouldn’t see him at all and to come back next time. He works a blue-collar job and doesn’t have the luxury of leaving early, so a little understanding would’ve gone a long way. This experience was disappointing and honestly turns me off as a customer, and I think others should be aware of how strict their timing is.

Negative experience: I took my two little brothers to this place because we had a fairly good experience on our first time. However, we didn’t have the same experience when we went there yesterday. The barber who cut one of my brother’s hair left cut marks on the back. He had complained of slight pain on the back but we took it lightly until we saw the red marks on him. As for my other brother, it was the same barber who did it and he did a halfhearted job into cutting his hair. He didn’t do the style that my brother had requested. It seemed like he didn’t do much at all other than the fade on the side which wasn’t even. We had to go home and fix it ourselves. The barber who cut their hair was Tracy. That’s the guy we made an appointment with over the phone. If we come here again, it’ll have to be with a different barber.

Negative experience: I called in and set an appointment with Tracey for 4:30 today. I asked for a simple haircut and lining and mustache and bread trim. He proceeded to do nothing that I asked for. Cut my hair way to low. The fact that the haircut only took 13 minutes. I'm an older man who would like to keep as much hair as possible he cut my curls out my lining was crooked and mustache and bread need I say more I was very unhappy with his service. Not to say my wife was very unhappy with this cut. I was referred to this establishment by a friend and now I am regretting it.

Fantastic experience: I lived in Cedar Rapids several years ago and this was my go to barber shop back when they were on Mt. Vernon Road. I recently stopped in on a Friday afternoon during a trip back for a haircut at their new location. It's a very clean, bright and inviting atmosphere. I was able to walk in and was immediately seated for a haircut. Tate did a great job. The prices are great, but just be aware they are cash only. This place is definitely a better option for men's haircuts than any of the nationwide chains.

Negative experience: If I could give it a zero I would. The Barbers weren't the problem the owner was. I enter with my father so he could get a haircut. I have service dog which is required for a disability. Under the ADA, Americans with Disabilities Act, I am allowed into public business and private that provide to the public. The owner states that I am not allowed due to sanitary, fear, and allergy issues. I explained to him that since he is a service dog that I am allowed in even with those concerns. After a couple minutes of back and forth explaining. He storms off and calls the cops. He ended up putting a trespassing order on me. Forcing me to leave or I would have been arrested. I have never talked to a more ignorant, selfish, and discrimitory person before.

Negative experience: This was the worst barber experience I have ever had, went in yesterday for a haircut and asked for a mullet. During the time I was explaining to Chris what I wanted done with my hair he continued to ignore me and talk to his co-workers about other things. He cut 2 inches off my hair when I specifically asked for him not too and messed up everything else on top I was asking for. Will not be going back, bad vibes.

Negative experience: My son had an appointment with Adam for a haircut before his senior pictures. The day of his appointment Adam switched to the following evening at 8pm. My son showed up to find the place closed. He tried calling and texting Adam and never got a response back. My son drove 30 miles one way to get his haircut for nothing. Adam is clearly VERY unprofessional, he knew my son had senior pictures and was driving that far. He has still never reached back out to my son. The rest of the barbers may be fine but this is completely unacceptable.

The guys are knowledgeable and skilled, there's TVs with a couple sports shows or old movies on, and you get a great value. 25 bucks (plus tip!) for a haircut (+5 to add beard trim and shaping) is not much more than Great Clips and what have you, and it is certainly a much better experience.

Fantastic experience: Every person that walks out of this shop always has a very crisp/clean hair cut. This is a REAL BARBER SHOP! When you get your hair done, they do your beard as well. They have the old school foam brush, straight razor cut and hot towel on the face. I took my uncle their bc he hasn't ever been to a real barber shop. It was a surprise deal that I lined up with my guy Brex, he does for crisp/clean work. My uncle was glowing when he got out of the chair. He was so impressed with how much time/detail he spent on his beard. My aunt couldn't keep her hands off of him, she was so impressed with the overall look. She was very entertained sitting their,watching all 11 barbers do such great hair cuts etc.... She told me that they may have to come visit me once a month, bc that's how much she loved the experience/vibe. They do designs on the side of the heads, bald fades and basic trim ups but line everything out with the straight razor at the end.

Negative experience: Called was told they don't take appointments just come in sign name on list. Did so, grandson was first on list. After an hour I looked at list and 2 guys after his name had been called. I asked and was told he was next, not so. At 90 min he was finally called. The barber was nice cut was just OK. Grandson wanted to go to this place because his friends were going there. They were busy, don't know why I was told they don't take appointments. No one apologized for the wait. We won't go back,such a disappointing experience. I was just trying to be a loving grandparent taking him their. I'm not sure why so many good reviews. Needless to say my grandson was dissappointed!!! I'm not sure why we were overlooked???

Negative experience: My friend went for a haircut and shave. His hair was all uneven. His mustache was higher on the right then the left. Had to go to another barber shop to make the repairs.

Fantastic experience: My nephews went in looking crazy but when Jose was finished they looked like a million bucks. To be honest everybody that left out of Men's Room look good!!! If you live in Cedar Rapids or near this is the spot to get your hair cut, you will not be disappointed.

Negative experience: Absolutely ridiculous! My son called and asked if he could get in for a haircut around 12:30. The person told him yes. There were only 2 people waiting in the store at the time. However there were people in front of him who weren’t at the store at the time of their appointment but had an appointment. Why are they getting squeezed in before those that are waiting when they weren’t on time for their appointment?? Were still here over a hour later and he still hasn’t been called back! Usually it’s pretty good but today definitely has me questioning on coming back.

Negative experience: Came in at 4:45 for my 5pm appointment. Ended up having to wait until 5:10 but I’d rather wait than have him rush someone before me. Sat down in the chair after I showed him a picture of a medium hair length flow middle part. It was pretty much just a trimmed and styled version of what I had already, he clarified this when he said “so you just want it trimmed up?”. Ended up messing me up pretty bad, but I could tell that he probably didn’t have experience with that style. The cut is really uneven, it’s actually close to what I wanted on one of the sides, but the other side is cooked. Giving an extra star just because I could tell he felt bad and ended up giving me the cut for free. Next time I’d just let your clients know if you’re uncomfortable with a certain style that you haven’t done before and let them know that beforehand. I’d probably avoid trying to get medium hair or long hair cuts. The back is awful, I asked for a low taper fade on the sides and he tried doing something in the back and it just didn’t work out. He also spent probably just under an hour on a 30min appointment. I appreciate the effort and I feel kinda bad, but my hair is kinda slammed. My hair was cut by Adam. Seems like a chill guy, just a new style for him and didn’t end up working out. The photos are: the before, what I wanted, what I got.

Negative experience: This has been the worst experience trying to get my beard trimmed. I didn't have an appointment and when I walked in there was hardly anyone waiting to get a trim and I was the only one on the sign in sheet. Had 3 different employees ask if I was the walk in and after that I was totally ignored. If you don't have an appointment then you're treated like trash. After waiting an hour i neverd did get my beard trimmed. . Wish I could give 0 stars.

Negative experience: Usually my kids get good hair cuts here but my oldest got his hair cut today and no one listened to what he wanted even showed the guy what the style looked like and the length he wanted and now I got a kid who is very upset and doesn't wanna show anyone his hair.

Fantastic experience: I moved to Cedar Rapids from Miami. I'm originally born and raised in Harlem NYC. I bring this up because I KNOW great barbershops and great barbers. I miss the big city feel and flex. I called here and TERREL picked up. He made an appointment with me and I went to see him. Maaaaannnn when I tell you TERREL hooked me up. From the head to the shave! Hot towel! Attention to detail! And expert treatment. Look... CR is not that big. The last time he went at 1:15 yesterday (Thursday) I thought that it was going to be just as good! Fantastic experience: Shhh don't tell anyone but occasionally it's the woMEN'S Room. Jose did fantastic work creating the super short, shaved look I wanted. And I love the industrial, masculine vibe of the huge space. FYI they're staying put at 1501 1st. St. SE.

Fantastic experience: I will likely continue going here as I have for the past few years. Lately my barber has been Brex and it's obvious he knows what he is doing. He can either listen to what you want, or you can ask his opinion as I have. I've always loved my cut at the end of the short 30 minutes. I will say though, make an appointment. They are usually quite busy and I've always seen the building nearly at capacity.

Negative experience: My name is Singh I went this place yesterday after I make my appointment. I drove 30 minutes to reach mans room barber shop my kids was with me when I went inside environment was great buy hair and beard job was very poor , poor means I can do better than that my self. It took me 6 months to grow my beard and took him 5 minutes to massed up I don't think he knows what he was doing, and way I feel he (adam) probably won't have license, there is probably good barber in there don't take me wrong. My suggestion is if someone make there appointment for beard they should have the best guy.

Fantastic experience: My brother got his first hair cut here today, and it turned out great! With an appointment, waiting time was about 10-15 minutes, but it was quite busy in there. The cost was very low ($20 for kid's haircut). The shop was very clean and the employees all looked very professional with positive attitudes.

Fantastic experience: Downloaded app & we made an appointment online same day to get my grandsons hair cut. Can not tell how impressed we were with the old school new look Baber shop. I hope I get the babers name ...Jose lita...I now have thought about growing hair again just so I can get a proper crew cut, flat top.
