Negative experience: Had an appointment booked in for weeks ahead of important business in Dundee. They cancelled it at the very last possible minute, no reason given. Awful service

Negative experience: This place is great if you want to pay almost £30 for a bog standard lad-style haircut you can get better from any turkish barber's. If you have any instructions at all for them, they seem to get confused and give the worst haircut you can dream of. Completely uneven in the back, sides and somehow even the fridge, a buzz cut seems the only way to save this monstrosity. Just find somewhere else.

Negative experience: Booked days in advance. Got a notification on the morning of the booking, from the booking app, that my appointment had been cancelled by Hard Grind. I rang and left a message about it. No response. Not impressed. Would suggest you don't bother.

Negative experience: So you book an appointment, days in advance, take time out of your day, pay for parking and sit for 30mins to be told that that guy cutting your hair slept in! However that contradicts a previous conversation where another barber said 'the person messaged saying he would be in as he had an 11am appointment' as i sat and listened. I'm not buying the 'i slept in until 11.30am and need to get a bus' as acceptable! Especially when they knew they were coming in. Usually very good service but if you can't be bothered to get out of bed, then it shows the level of service (or lack of) that you're happy to apply to the business name. Good luck, but I won't be back.

Negative experience: **CLOSED** Dundee shop closed with no notice, still says it’s open online and can still book appointments. Shop has been gutted. Very odd.

Fantastic experience: I took my toddler here for a haircut and the guys were all really friendly. Andy was incredibly sweet and great with him, reassuring him and going out of his way to make him comfortable. He needed a lot of his hair cut and thinned; Andy took his time and the cut was absolutely brilliant. Really delighted with the cut and service and I'll be back to book with Andy at their new location.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely banging haircut, I was very protective of my hair, and I didn't want to change getting it cut badly as it was really long and curly and that takes a lot of skill to cut, and these folks delivered, an amazing cut and the beard shaping was phenomenal, been getting compliments all week. 5/5. Will be going here again

Negative experience: Worst haircut and beard trim I've ever had.

Negative experience: I don’t doubt they can cut some people’s hair, however, following instructions is another thing. Asked for a specific cut, showed photos and described exactly what I wanted in detail. What I received was nothing short of abysmal. The barber ignored every last instruction I gave and just did a fade anyway, though I instructed that I do NOT want a razor near my head. Genuinely gave me an entirely different cut than I requested and I walked out, irked, that I had to pay £21 AFTER discount. Will not be back. Very disappointed after a lot of promise.

Negative experience: Look for a barber shop to cut my hair, find hard grind, see that it says on here that they're open till 7pm on a Friday, phone to clarify this and the guy on the phone also says 7pm, great I plan my day around that time, arrive at 5pm, see the closed sign on the door, phone up and the guy on the phone tells me they're closed. Why did 2 sources of information, one being a worker there tell me you were open till 7pm and you were closed 2 hours before that, have a trip the next day so I can't even make it in and all other barbers are now shut or booked up.

Negative experience: I was in Dundee, didn’t know the good barbers and needed a haircut. Checked on Google and this place had the most 5 star reviews. My experience goes to show that you shouldn’t just rely on Google reviews. The haircut I got was pretty bad. I asked for a taper and I could tell the guy didn’t know how to do it. The taper wasn’t even close to the same on both sides. The fade part of the taper was poor leaving uneven parts of hair in different parts. The back was not as bad but still badly blended into the hair on the back of my head. Nevertheless the barber was still nice and the atmosphere and aesthetic of the barber shop was pleasing. Hence why Im give their place a 2 star instead of 1.

Fantastic experience: I recently took my little boy to hard grind, and I just have to say that I was blown away by the amazing service I received from every single member of staff I encountered. It was his very first visit to the barber, and I must admit I was quite nervous about it. However, the staff quickly made me feel at ease, and I can’t thank them enough for that. Our barber, Ed, was especially fantastic. He was incredibly kind and gentle with him, and it made the whole experience so much better. In fact, we loved it so much that we’ve already been back for another trim, and once again, the service was outstanding. From now on, this will definitely be our go-to place for haircuts.

Negative experience: Got heckled by a member of staff smoking outside. At £22 a hair cut, I’d save your money and go somewhere where you pay half and get double…

Negative experience: Barber seemed friendly. I told him this isn’t my normal barber he assured me that they are the best in Dundee. Then went on to give me a shocking haircut. Tried to tilt the mirror so I couldn’t see the back eventually had to move his hand so I could see it. Big wedge across the back. I’d asked him to blend it in. Had to stop him from making it worse and will now have to get it cut a lot shorter than I wanted in another barbers. Don’t go to this barber.

Positive experience: Really happy with my haircut and the staff are always very friendly worth five stars. However, it irks me that in an age when I can pay for air at the garage by card, I cannot pay for my haircut at HG. Particularly as this is quite possibly thee most expensive barber in Dundee. Maybe I’m being petty but although the cut is £27, I have to take £30 out the machine to get a cut. As HG is the only place in Dundee that doesn’t take card. Plus the added hassle of going to the cash machine, I think I’ll go elsewhere from now on.

Negative experience: Well, unfortunately, my rating has gone down from 5 to a 2. Very poor haircut was given, the barber obviously had other things on his mind, hasn't sat right for weeks, shame really as i have always had a decent cut although very samey. Hair wasn't the real issue here, I have had a beard for most of my adult life and I usually do it myself so I thought I'd treat myself with a beard trim too, I asked for a light trim/Tidy up. So I was swung in the seat to face away from the mirror, then when I turned round my full bear was reduced to stubble, shocked was an understatement. However, one thing about hair is that it will grow back, which it is doing. So just please, please, please, if you value your beard, be very specific, or you will be left with very little, depending on who you go with, of course.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely recommend. This was my first time going to a barbers as opposed to a salon and I was very nervous. However, I was immediately put at ease when I walked in and only waited a short while for a walk-in appointment. I was talked through parts of the process that differed from a typical salon appointment and the barber made sure to fully understand what I wanted. There was no judgement or hesitation of any kind despite me not being a man. Any queer or trans people, especially those that don’t pass well, should definitely give this place a try - it was fantastic and very inclusive! Setting aside all that - it was also one of the best haircuts I have ever had in my life. I got exactly what I asked for at a very reasonable price. I will absolutely be recommending this shop to everyone!

Negative experience: Previously as a customer always a high standard of haircut which is reflected in the £22 price however today I was in and out in 6 minutes really did not believe worth the money ? Never tell a barber your trying to grow your hair as obviously that means let’s do as little as possible and turn the chair over asap for next customer won’t be back here not worth the money anymore

Fantastic experience: They make an effort to understand what you'd like and to make you feel comfortable. The barbers there are really good. The only down side to the place is that, if you're a walk in, you may need to be prepared to wait for an hour or maybe two before you get into the barber's chair.

Fantastic experience: I have very curly hair and I often find that some hairdressers are reluctant to deal with it but here you can tell that they are all very passionate about there job and took there time to get it right. The only slightly bad thing that I'd say is that I've recently grown my hair out long and the guy didn't really know the best way to go about it but in the end he did a good job, it just took a little longer. I'd say if you do have longer hair maybe go to a place where they cut women's hair as well.

Fantastic experience: Really great experience today in the Daily Grind. Lovely coffee served with cute art work on the froth. I had the DJ Monster snack which was a stacked breakfast on tasty circular croissant. Absolutely loved it. Definitely going back . Totally recommend!

Fantastic experience: Professional, with a warm atmosphere. Not the cheapest haircut but it's well worth the quality you get. If you're in a long queue you can even grab coffee in their shop next door while a buzzer informs you of when your barber is available!

Positive experience: As a Barbers, they do great work. Went to have my beard done there andit was quick, friendly and professional so five stars there. What drags it down is the food. Got a sandwich there as well and, instead of making up a new one, the person serving me just gave me the one on display. Bread by that point in the day was stale and hard and teh salmon was not as fresh as it once was. I will be back but hopefully next time the food will be fresher.

Fantastic experience: We took our 1 year old for his first haircut feeling a little dubious about how the experience would go, the guy was absolutely amazing with our boy, he had such a relaxed presence it really helped calm our wee man. Nothing was to much trouble and in the end we came away with an amazing haircut and a proud feeling of accomplishment. Fantastic experience: My 4 year old son has always been terrified of the barbers and I really struggled and dreaded getting his hair cut. Hard Grind were fantastic with him and he didn't shed 1 tear. It's been a revelation and we won't ever go anywhere else now. The cut is brilliant and the shop is so quirky and unique. Would recommend to anyone (and regularly do). We've been a few times now and just getting better and better.

I'm a Makeup Artist and took my model in for a haircut for an up coming photoshoot and couldn't be happier with the result! Ed listened to what I wanted, was enthusiastic and taught me and the model different ways on how to style the hair. My model and I left very happy.
